It came in my Scam. I mean Spam.

 

I personally haven't had any scams but apparently there's a lot going on, on YouTube.

Today's offering is 4 different addressed Email saying that we have the chance to win Luxury pillows from Premier Inn.
None of them from a recognisable address, so defo a phishing attempt.

 

Why do you seem to be getting so many of the scams?

 

People need to protect themselves online, heaven help those who are not savvy to do so! Happy to try to help those in need...

 

Probably because our Yahoo Email account was hacked years ago and we keep it for the amusement.
According to tonight's offering I have had an Automobile accident recently.

 

If you now have a Gmail account, get it to access your Yahoo account and pull in any emails. Set the Gmail account to "spam" (filter) unwanted emails to the bin.

 

Years ago I had a Hotmail account. I technically still have it. I log in about once a year just to prevent Microsoft from binning it. I only keep it in case there's anything important in it from years ago. I'm not sure which has the worst reputation for spam, yahoo or Hotmail.

 

I’ve had a Hotmail account for 20 years or more … I use it all the time … I cannot recall ever having had a spam email on it.

 

I'm sure it depends where you use Hotmail or any account, and in recent years they have improved. Same with Hotmail (which I still have) you can pull it in to Gmail (remainder, I really don't like Google, but use it) automatically without ever touching it. I use the same procedd with gmail email to have a "dump" shopping email address whereby they go to spam and I never see them.

 

Yahoo and Hotmail became notorious for spam for one simple reason. They were both very early. They hit the scene when the idea of having an email address was brand new and exciting, and as such they rapidly became ubiquitous, well before people cottoned on that bad people would try to abuse things.

Gmail came much later. By the time Gmail was really a thing, lots of standardized had improved in the way email worked.
