A packet of Lavender ''Munstead'' seeds would cost less than £3 - just an idea :) I have found that variety makes an inexpensive and neat low growing hedge.

Just be wary of lavender plug plants, I ordered a batch from VM two summers ago when they had a great offer on them, but most were looking very sad when they arrived and had almost gone in a day or so.

Seems such young lavenders are very prone to disease so need some careful looking after and transport, so if yours do not look great contact the seller.

I sent VM these pics and they replaced without question, the new ones ok apart from a couple not looking good.

Seeds or these plug plants will take 2 -3 years to make anything like a decent size plant.
If you are looking for just a few, they buying larger pot grown plants might be a better option..?

Maybe I will just have to wait until the plants go out of date and are sold off cheap. I saw plenty last year but I didn't need them then.

Pot into 9cm pots, place in your trough and cover with plastic to make a sort of cloche. They will grow quickly and in 3 weeks or so they will have filled those pots. You can then remove the cover Pot on again into 1 litre pots or into your trough.
          Dont overwater or overfeed.
They wont grow as fast or flower as profusely if not in the ground though. :)

Sometimes it is better to excercise a little patience and plan ahead. It can be more rewarding and cost a lot less. :)
