    Well yet another set back!

Today Martin invited a friend round to help him glaze the roof - its safety glass and very heavy, so really a two man job. I came home expecting it all to be finished and it turns out the glass is 12mm to big, so we now have to get it cut to size.

Martin is seriously unimpressed with the company, the glass is very poor fit even with the rubber bits that are supposed to cover any small diviations. Martin has to have everything so precise too, so its a very bad start for us.

Oh we will get there eventually!

oh don't say that - never takes much of an excuse for me to have a party! remind me to tell you about the day my pouff was eventually delivered!!!

Now I did run it past Martin this morning my idea that as the roof was too big, and the sides were too small, then perhaps he might have got the panes mixed up............Then I wished I had kept my mouth sut silly me!

    Hi Waco
Sounds like you`re not having a good time.
As the greenhouse is so bad you really should complain to the company.
If the glazing is a long way out you might get all sorts of problems further down the line with leaks and such.
You should have a good case for getting a replacement especially as the glazing doesn`t even fit the frame.
Sounds like their QC dept needs a swift kick ;)

I think Hex the QC dept. were in the middle of their Christmas party season when it was ordered - could account for a lot!

Yes I am going to complain, firstly to the company and a copy to supplier. Martin says its a waste of time, but I just have to do it, I am not a ly back and take it type of person.

Martin has measured the glass loads of times, and has complete confidence in his placing of the panes. He is going to get two of the small size panes cut by 17mm tomorrow, then assures me it will fit and the whole job will be finished. I know he is very precise and fussy, but this has been way out all the way down the line.

    Its finished!!!

but what a to dooo.... Martin measured the glass 100 times over the weekend and found it was 17mm too big. Rather than make a fuss with the company he took it to glazers to be cut only to be told they could not do it as it was safety glass.

Finaly we phoned the company to go CRAZY with them, but could not get through to any department - eventually mid pm when we did, we were told the panes were supposed to overlap - well wouldn't it have saved us a load of time if they had mentioned that in the distructions!!! SCREAM!

Then its not easy to glaze the middle of a 14 X 12 ft glass house, but we managed it with a bit of old skirting board - I am sure Paladin would have found a more professional way of doing it!

Just got to get the electrics in now, but I think I may leave it until I have thought out how I want to work it. All done just intime for me to have to go to work tomorrow.

    Phew!

Thanks all, I am really encouraged by the support, but I am afraid its going to be a lot of questions from me on GC not to mention the neurosos, when I start to move all the plants in and start growing.
