I bought some Streptocarpus in from the greenhouse and put them on the windowsill in my office. They now have aphids too ...

Aphids are fairly common over winter in warm conditions.
I use a Provado aerosol during winter, I dont like those little trigger sprayers, making everything wet at this time of the year.

I used the old weak washing up liquid in a spray to de whitefly the banana seedlings on my kitchen windowsill with no ill effects - it did, however, kill the chilli seedlings which were also infected, which suggests that it may have been a little too strong!

Although Provado is expensive, a tiny bit goes a long way and it is very effective. If a plant I'm fond of get's a bug problem I would rather use something that I know works and works quickly.

Yeah, I've used washing up liquid in the past on aphids, you need to make sure you squirt every last one.
Plus as I say, I dont like wetting plants this time of the year.:)
