Hope your tree is getting better, but I was reading with interest on how you had
grown the tree from from a lemon pip / seed, was there anything special done in sowing those? (soil etc and can they be grown any time of of year) and its hard to tell from the photo but I just wondered how high the tree had grown in the year

Just saw the post from Sal and have seen a couple of Mayer plants on Ebay so might have a look at them. Good luck with your tree.

the comment above is exactly what i was going to ask. How did you start off with the pip, did you plant just the one, or ?
I would love to know how you got the tree 'up and running'

Hi Intel and Jessss , all my lemons , mandarin , lime and grapefruit are from pips ....
Nothing more simple , get a lemon from anyshop , try to understand where they are coming from , try to select a true lemon , don`t choice one of the gloss , waxy one (they are grafted and maybe even seedless) , but go for the shabby variety .....Italian are my favorite .
Get the pips out and dry it on the window chill for 3 days , get a pot with compost , water and it should come out in 5 days . Best to germinate are lemon and grape fruit.

            Hi Sal

I have had lemons that had germinated pips inside the lemon

I was away so tree has been left alone for a few days. Look how much it has grown! I checked the pot and to my amazement I found that I had only one hole in the bottom of the pot. I have now knocked out the other 3. Need to get some gravel for the bottom (job for the weekend). Spots do not clean off so suspect the red mite. Will also tackle this at the weekend, will have a think about which method to try.

lemon from pips will not grow well in pot,it look like too much water, using a mixture of soil grit and sand, open the window and give some fresh air

So... I bought some bug spary. Didn't want any of the little horrors hanging around so i gave it a good covering (at the time i did think this was a bad idea). So after some time Tree looked like this... [IMG] and then some more time went by and I was left with just one lonely leaf [IMG]. Having faith in Tree I gave it a bit of water and let it be. And now new shoots are growing, so now I have a second chance! :) thanks for all the advice. I think it did have bugs but also was overwatered.

                Hi
Keep it in a cool room and very little water or none is best, it will come back but you dont want to encourage growth at this time of year not enough sunlight.

Mine is in the greenhouse at the moment I will only bring in the house if we have minus for more than 1 day , but straight back it goes when temperature is not freezing the last time I watered mine must of been last week of October.

This is why I forced my lemon to like it outdoors, if it doesn't it's tough **** :psnp:

Outdoors is the best remedy.. of course much more risky than RSM in our climate ;-)
