No, I disagree with having to pay tax on my State Pension, my Civil Service Pension and the paltry amount I accrue as interest on my Investments UNTIL I'M BLUE IN THE FACE.....:wallbanging:

Pensioners used to get a higher tax free allowance but they have done away with that now.
It used to try and take into account that we'd paid NHI all our lives for our pensions so should be given some allowance for it, but they stopped that last year.

What about all the people who paid £25+ for their poppies? to extend the display for another year would not be fair to the people who bought these in good faith. The display wouldn't be there if it wasn't for the purchases made by the general public.

            Lest We Forget:smile:

We have had two of those poppies on order since August 15 th so in a way we don't want them to be there for another year even though they look nice and we know what they represent but we like 888,246 other people have already paid up front for them so we would like to have them on display in our house at some point in the future as a reminder of two relatives who died for us ...and you:smile:

Also all the poppies have now been sold out so no chance of anyone else buying one so no more money is actually going to be made for the charity's unless they start to charge people for the viewing of them.:snork:

Do you know what percentage of the £25 goes to the charities Val?

I would hope that folk are being very generous as they queue up to view the poppies.

Still I understand what you say about ordering yours and I suppose they must have promised a delivery date, so it seems unlikely that they could extend the time without disappointing a lot of people.

I totally disagree with the Artistic poppies
A nice little earner for the "ARTISTE"
Planted free by volunteers,Poppies sold at £25 each with a total income of £25 million
Possibly £11 million going to six military charities |(states at least ten percent) leaving £14 million for the artist and his production costs

Seems a very good scheme to invent to me

More honest would have been to give the scheme to the RBL and their poppy makers produce them, much more honourable

I'm in no rush JWK, if leaving them in place for another month or so raises more money, then I'm happy to wait but the petitions which largely ignore how this installation has been funded are being very inconsiderate to those who paid a little more than a couple of quid in a collection box. I mean no disrespect to everyone who bought a poppy as normal, every penny counts.
