I can sympathise, watergarden. I've been selling on a certain auction site for years & it's definitely slower the last year or so. I understand people don't want to buy a turkey, but there are a lot of good sellers out there. I personally don't sell anything I wouldn't want to receive myself. I mostly list everything for 99p because you don't get charged a listing fee, but then I'm often disappointed when good items go for little money.

But it's not just auction sites. I have a few items listed in free-ad papers & no-one's interested! very frustrating. *dim* do you have some tricks you'd like to share with us? :WINK1:

With a world wide viewing platform, people will still buy. It is just a case of whether they want the item that is for sale. You can't force people to buy something just because you want to get rid of it with the idea that everyone else will share the same opinion of disirability or worth.

Its now changed from letting off steam to superheated steam.

I appreciate what you have all said, I was just wondering is it me. What I am selling I brought but never got round to using it, so its still in its boxes. I have even given a link to a site that sells it and if you follow it you can see it costs almost £500.

I say its now superheated steam because I had a "question" that said

"I can collect it tomorrow for £50 if you like"

It cost me £500 why would I sell it for 1/10th what it cost

I will not put it up for auction with a low start price or no reserve because I fell £50 is an insult. I would be happy with £250 so no doubt it wont sell, so i will look at selling it with a buy it now option. (never tried that before)

Oh, I do buy stuff, and yes we all want a "bargain" but I never buy brand new stuff as often its cheaper to go to a shop and get it. The one that tickles me is something up for auction that you can buy for 3 times less if you hunt round for it, I guess they are just chancing their arm.

(I know what you are now thinking, but my listing has a link showing how much it does cost)

Before you rush into that one, try and work out what the final fees are. You can get stung if you aren't careful.

You clearly have a value of worth in your head, as would anyone selling or buying, so rather than using 'buy it now' try and see if you can list the item as a classified ad. On more expensive items, it is a far cheaper option with no percentage fees etc.

        Also www.preloved.co.uk

Don't sell stuff on ebay anymore hardly. Their fees are just too much money that is taken away from the final price. If I do sell something then I will only have it as cash on collection, that way I don't have to pay paypal and post office fees. I get to meet the buyer and sometimes they walk off with more stuff than they came for, which paypal and ebay have no idea about.
