They were broad minded in the fifties!!! :snork: I think the mattresses were stuffed with horse hair, they were quite hard and lumpy.

Ah, I know what you mean now - I had one as a kid that was stuffed with a mix of horsehair stuff and this other fibre that looked almost like coco fibre.

You can still get Sherbet fountains, I carry an emergency one with me at all times. They are a bit different now with a plastic cap over the liquorice, and the liquorice no longer has a hole so you can't suck the sherbet up through it. Also the tube is made of plastic so no more soggy paper mess as you try to extract the last tiny bit of sherbet in the bottom. Apart from that I know very little about them ... :love30:

Do you mean The Bioscope? :)

I remember all of those :dbgrtmb: 10:4

I hope you used to wear your liberty bodice in the winter as well!

Also Roy Rogers with Trigger and Bullet
Don't forget the Lone Ranger's and Tonto's horses - Silver and Scout
              and Hoppalong Cassidy's horse, Topper
Then, of course, there was 'The Singing Cowboy' Gene Autry and his horse Champion

I remember watching the first episode of The Quatermass Experiment on our friend's 9" TV.

Then there were the popular radio programmes:
              Life With The Lyons
              The Navy Lark
              Dick Barton
              Beyond Our Ken
Worker's Playtime 'from a factory somewhere in England' !!!!!
