    Yes, they already are.

Thank you all so much for the hugs, I'm fine now, it was such a shock that's all, at first the vet said she suspected it was probably bladder crystals forming and that he might need a special diet so I was quite happily carrying on with my day, then she phoned with the devastating news, it actually made it harder because I felt that it was in my cat's best interests if I wasn't there at the time which is something I always do, but she said he already had a tube in his leg giving him fluids and that he was now sleeping, I knew if I went round there he would be rubbing against the bars welcoming me and wanting me to take him home, so I made the decision to just let him carry on sleeping.....................................!! Thank you again for all the hugs, they say that "grief is the price you pay for love" so so true.

Totally understand how you must have felt @Val..

One of my cats developed serious bladder crystals. Became extremely ill within a very short space of time, rushed to vets but he was simply too, too ill. Difference was, he was only 3 years old.

Shock does knock us all for six, but I think you made the bravest and wisest choice to continue to let him sleep on because, as you say, your visit would have roused him and probably caused him that little bit of extra stress when you couldn't have taken him home.

How blessed you are to have had 20 years of joyful memories shared with him :grphg:

@"M" Thank you for saying that, but I still beat myself up for the rest of the evening thinking I should have been there with him, I think that whatever the situation us pet lovers always feel that we should have done 'more' in some way.
