Could be a possibility but I haven't seen any beetles in the polytunnel. I have a suspicion it might be little caterpillars/moth.. yet to find caterpillars but a hawk moth was hiding in there a few weeks ago.

Holes look like beetle damage, caterpillars tend to munch the edges.

@Scrungee yes i did wonder if it was the result of adult vine weevils as i found a few and promptly dispatched them - also as my Fuchsias were coming into full bloom by then i didn't want to disturb the soil so i took the alternative and plunged the entire pot(s) in buckets of water for 48 hours - it's said its an effective way to rid the pot of the grubs - as a precaution i then layered the soil with a deep gravel topping to prevent any new grubs being laid :fingers crossed: only time will tell if it was successful - but i will empty the soil and sift through the pot's before putting them to bed for winter - interestingly I've never had a problem with Vine Weevils before - but I did buy some Fuchsia plants from Morrisons as opposed to doing my own cuttings this year - Could just be a coincidence, can't really cast blame of course-but i now I'm led to understand that all commercial growers have to treat for Vine Weelis in their pots as it seems to have become rather too prevelent :frown:

I was starting to worry about this tree for next year.. turned up yesterday to find my worry had disappeared!

Dug over one long bed. Decided to get rid of the path to the left to open it up a bit, job for next year.

Cut open one of the melons this morning, very pleased!

Planted autumn onions and garlic. Spaced them closer together than before as I think I wasted space last time.. we'll see.

Put peas in plot 2 two weeks ago, they've poked through.

Tom's are mostly blighted still picking though, got rid of heartbreaker vita and minibel. Pepper has caught it too :(

Me and plot/poly buddy Mal been talking about our poly..we need a new cover badly. Holes and rips everywhere. The ground is really uneven too and where water has got in on my side the weed membrane is squelching like a bog. AGM is on Tues looking forward to it. Would really like to get a skip, leccy and water on site too.. very much doubt that would happen though!

Few pics and a slight update.

Had some fun this morning.. Had to climb through the polytunnel door window! I have 4 sacks of spuds and 2 toms left in there. All fine considering how cold it's been this week!

              20171108_093217.jpg

The wooden sleeper fence has moved loads with all the rain and is nearly going into Mal's plot.. so they've got a mini digger in, made a trench and left it. :rolleyespink: :dunno: :heehee:

A seriously sparse tunnel.. I was supposed to move these before work started and for the new cover.. oops.

              20171108_092026.jpg

              Can't believe their still going!

My spuds.. think I got blight :/

              Peas have surprised me!

              More onions and garlic

              20171108_091334.jpg

My dad has been super dad and got rid of turnips and bagged up some raspberries to move to the other plot, dug over and took out a few planks to make way for the greenhouse. Super frigging excited!

              20171108_091230.jpg

Went to AGM. They want me on the committee..oh dear! Put forward some ideas mainly a communal tea shed, site manager said what size and said a grant will be put in.. then joked..
"how about a bar with a Strongbow pump"

                  Fantastic view there Linz.

Is that a landslide against your poly-tunnel? Hence why you had to climb in through the window !

Your garlic and onions look very advanced and healthy, when did you plant them?

It's where the digger put the soil.. this was the week before. If I opened the door I wouldn't of been able to close it lol

Hi Linz, just been looking at your lotty with envy. You got anything started already for 2018? I've got autumn onion set and garlic in like yourself. And nowt much else happening apart from shallots and leeks starting in cells in the conservatory. I want to get on with more now!

Hi Snorks, don't be envious I've not done a thing so far except a small bit of digging over! No not started any seeds off as of yet, I did want to do broad beans but may be a bit too late now..? I've still got a few leeks in the ground and not started any more yet.. I'm itching too but its just been too cold! May well start chillis/peppers and toms with in the next week or two, are you growing them this year?

Ah I was thinking about broad beans too-didnt realise it was too late lol. Holding off on the toms as i did them too early last year and they were really leggy. Going to try keep chillis to a minimum too as did far too many last year! Lol. Ate the last of my shallots grown from seed tonight-they were brilliant so doing them again.

Oh sorry Snorky I didn't see you replied. Someone put broad beans in just today on our allotments.. so we could wing it and get some in from wyevale (if they're selling them?!). I sown a load yesterday.. and I think I might have over done the chillis again too  only just put shallots in trays so will get them in asap.. apparently there's a cold snap again this weekend.. *sigh* .

Potatoes are chitting away have 2 lots of rocket, king Edwards, sharpes express and Desiree. They were in the ground this time last year!

The ones who put broad beans in have also put sweetcorn and peas in :dunno: too early for my liking!

Raked over 2 end patches today and had a clean up.. not much to do, soil still too claggy and polytunnel has been ripped :frown:

Plot 1.. need to get my bum moving!

Shame about the tunnel, they're ideal for bringing stuff on when it's still to cold and wet outside to sow direct into open ground. Yesterday I sowed my peas in cell trays under cover to be planted out in a couple of weeks or so (80 deg F in my tunnels this morning).
