i agree your chatting, im in complete agreement with you you Elaine, what else there are so many forums for them to choose from, when you think about it how many of our so called members actually partake in any disscusions very few we have about 3000 members,by my reaconing we have on average about 25 each day,we are in fact outnumbered by visitors each day so i think we have enough so called chat rooms

Agree 100% macleaf! [IMG] If I choose to "chat" to someone in particular, then I e-mail that person for our own private chat. I'm certainly happy with that arrangement. [IMG]

Quite agree, i enjoy the chats we have, lots of gc members dont want to chat away, quite a few members are not so sociable and like to be invisable, so why have this on gc

Well I go invisible quite often, when I just want to pop on to look at a certain topic, or haven't got time to chat, or at 4am when I'm the only one on here  But I also like a chat and a bit of silly banter, which sometimes (and I'm soooo guilty of this!) can stop a thread stone dead
Personally wouldn't mind having a dabble with a chatroom, then I can enjoy my silly banter without killing interesting threads. Suck it and see :D :D

The difference is that on a forum you just leave a message, but in a chat room you can have real time, live conversations with others. I have no particular view on this and personally cannot see myself using the chat room because I can't type fast enough to keep up. By the time I have laboriously made a comment and corrected my spelling, the conversation has swept on and left me behind.

I don't use chatrooms, partly because I am doing something else as well ( yes us men can sometimes multi task as well...if it means using some sort of technical equipment). Howver I can see that some people might use it and we could at least try. As the origihnal poster pointed out some threads are more suited to the chatroom format. It depends on how many people you get on at one time.

ok maybe I shouldnt say anything being a newbie and all, but dont think the chat room is the way to go here. Have used chat rooms extensively in the past and have found them invaded by spammers and such in the end gave up chating completely

As posted before, and as one of the prime chatterboxes of the site, I have no interest whatsoever in such a thing.

We who like to speak to each other do so, be it on forum, in PM or e-mail, and perhaps even via telephone.

We can make our own choices of how we speak to each other but I, for one, am not interested in another mode of "speak".
