Oh my! Yes, indeed that *does* add character - especially as the guy in the centre is looking right *at* it!!!!

I do love it when you are creating something and somehow the creative process takes on a life of its own from unintended consequences; which then, acts as inspiration to think outside the box.

    Love it, Martin

      Thank you M,

This is my wife's favorite print,
Backs to the Wall, 1918 Oil on Canvas by Scots artist Robert Gibb (1845-1932) Mr Gibb was in his 80s when he painted this, DSC_0168.JPG DSC_0170.JPG DSC_0175.JPG

In this painting the artist uses the compositional effect of a line of soldiers at the critical moment, in this case a line of khaki-clad Scottish troops standing defiantly, bayonet at the ready and the ghostly figures of dead comrades above the soldiers' heads.

Sorry pictures not good but you can see them in the clouds, the ghost are medieval soldiers and represent ghost from the battle of Agincourt,

The representations, speak volumes. Mrs MF has a eye for taste when it comes to art work: most moving! You've done them proud with your framing, for sure!

Loving the tables and especially the lamp!

Forgive me for saying so but, proportionally, the lamp looks a little bit .... lost ... on the larger of the tables. Either the lamp needs to be at least double the height, or the lamp needs to go on one of the smaller tables. Far too pretty to be dwarfed; it needs to shine!

It's all coming together very beautifully

I'm impressed with the skill demonstrated in these photos. Far beyond my capabilities.

We had a "wood phase" in our lounge. I clad this whole wall with proper occasionally oiled teak veneered panels on batons, with beading applied to the top and the corners of the chimney, I was the able to fit wall lights without me having to chase out the wall for the cables.

              P1000953.JPG

              P1000842.JPG

We had a double row of rounded-front mahogany window sills as shelves at a height just below the top of the sofa where it is now, for just one row of books and VHS videos, with my wife's ornaments on the top.
But a few years ago when we had the house redecorated, we decided the wood was now too much and made a long room rather dark and had it painted over. But we retained the shelves I'd put in this recess and just had the top bit painted. So with the retained wall cladding behind them they look like a fitted book case. (My wife is having a sort out of her card making stock).

Looks good DH rooms are personal spaces and made to your own designs yours looks good.

Thats where the wife wants it thats where its staying if you want to tell her M go ahead but i am certainly not:nonofinger::heehee:

She has put something with it M our wedding photo and a hand made picture, the little ones will be left out most of the time and fit under the bigger one when not in use, i still have a few bits to do but this is how it looking atm,

Obviously we love it its bespoke built to our own design.

My lounge has become an art studio and space for :hhog: cages. Not sure if splashes of paint count as redecorating :snorky:.

Out shopping a few years back . I lifted a shirt off a rack and held it up. I shouted down the aisle to Mrs H , "Do I like this shirt ?" . "No" was the reply, plus a wait 'til I get you home glare! :snorky:
