No more info I'm afraid - it's very much a shot in the dark this one! I have a real fondness for Lobelia and this is just too different not to try.

Overwintering shouldn't be difficult. Last winter I had a 10 foot Echium (9 foot + pot) in my 8 foot hall. You just have to bend it like Beckham.

In case helpful:

On Google Images at the right-end of the Search box there is a little camera icon. If you press that you can either upload a photo, or provide a URL Link to an image somewhere on the web. Google will then attempt to find images that "look like that". If it has the exact same file on record it will give you a link to the page, amongst other "possibly similar images".

(Couldn't use the URL of the image on GC, slightly non-standard format, so had to download the image and then upload to Google ... same difference though ...)

Thanks Kristen! Reckon that the blog I saw it on had lifted the image cos still no luck. Shame, as there were a couple of things of interest.

LongK- thanks for the kind thought, but at those prices they are pretty cheap. I am going to get some other seeds from them too.

I find the most valuable thing on this forum is the ideas and information. Now that's something money can't buy. So thank you all - and keep it all coming.

 

I know - it's the fault of you lot that I have finally given in and ordered some Echium seeds!

In the interests of sharing, here is part of my latest batch of seeds to arrive.............





Lisianthus nigrescens (from Nickys again). Variously described as the blackest flower in the world.

 

LongK - That is so different from the ordinary Lisianthus. Very nice.

Actually I overwintered several Echium pinina. Normally they are pretty short until they produce the flower spike during the summer - and then, of course, die. But the tall one that I overwintered got badly cut back by a cold wind in the previous spring. It recovered but became seriously out of sync with the seasons. It started to flower in the autumn and flowered all winter inside my house and on well into spring the next year.

 

Must have looked awesome in your hall! Dual duty decorated as a Christmas Tree?

They are dreadful for self-seeding you know ... have you checked the hall carpet?
