You mean the clutter that you were throwing out was stolen????If it were me I woulkd just be annoyed they hadn't told me before I hired the skip. Reminds me of when we used to have to take rubbish down to the tip, we now have a new super duper recycling centre behind big high metal fencing. At the old tip one of the guys pointed out holes in the fence -they used to get burgled by the pikeys...the original recyclers!
Incidentally be careful if you hire anyone for garden clearance, rubbish removal, like my next door neighbours . They hired some dodgey looking characters to fell and remove a big cypress. One of their relatives later found it taking up half the space of a local lay by. If the council find it and trace it back to you ,you get the fine.
Shiney thats a good idea. when i first looked I thought that would be good for wind resistance. When I had an allotment I occasionally had part of the row blow over in September - a 30 foot double row of runner beans and climbing French has some wind resistance.
The double trenching, or should it be 1 1/2 treching is a bit of a macho thing. after my double bypass last year I think I have been trying to prove I can still do these things. Like when i got my rotatavator out...these things don't save work. You just do it 5 times as fast as normal!!

geoff..it was stolen twice we kept the skip for 3 days and kept filling it up and s**** men kept coming in the night and emptying it..in one way it was good as we got rid of twice as much rubbish..as it wouldnt have all got in the skip as my greenhouse took up a lot of space..every day i see s**** men trailing down the road slowly looking to see if anyone has thrown anything away..they used to call them rag and bone men and they would give you a goldfish in exchange for rubbish..now they just take what they can get..

You never know it might have been somebody like Bob Flowerdew. He has aways been using rubbish to grow things in. People like him were always telling people to check skips - personally i would be too embarrassed. If they are reusing it at least it means less land fill.

I am not bothered about what happens once it goes in the skip - as long as it doesn't end up in a layby somewhere, not that I have hired a skip for many years. I did hear of someone who had a skip dropped off in the road and coned off etc. When they came to use it was half full already...seemed half the neighbourhood had been sneaking rubbish in. Now that would make me see red.
