    Why? :dunno:

Why in time for "next spring"?

That is a self imposed deadline; it is not set in stone ;) This is, perhaps, where your mojo has gone. From your posts, I get an impression of a person who is very driven, goal focused, everything has a time plan/deadline. Now, in certain circumstances, that is an absolute necessity! In other circumstances, that can be a complete advantage. In gardening? :noidea: In gardening, that is the ultimate challenge: man vs nature. We aim to control, enhance, adjust, adapt; but, nature has a way of taking our legs out from beneath us.

Clue, a week or two ago, I felt the same as you do (but, in my case, it was a feeling of being overwhelmed and under-knowledgable); but, "Rome wasn't built in a day". Likewise, we have to take time out to "smell the roses", because if we don't, the time spent nurturing those roses becomes nothing more than a chore!

Time for a reflection break; soak up what you have done, remember to incorporate that in your future goals (which entails a new homestead :dbgrtmb: ) and then, ... well, just put it all into "perspective". You have achieved so much already, but, I wonder how much you appreciate how much you have achieved?

    Be gentle with yourself, Cherub.

Clueless, I'm glad it's not just me who can't feel as motivated in the garden as usual. I'm convinced it's to do with the weather. I always feel too hot in a scorcher of a summer...but it sort of charges the batteries. Much of this year has been a bit grey.

I like to look at other peoples gardens when I feel like this, get away for a bit and then come back with renewed focus.

In a way, what an uplifting and refreshing thread this has been for us all. Thank you Clueless1 for sharing your doubts with us. It appears we all have these from time to time. I know I'm a "fair weather" gardener. A bit of a wuss and can get easily discouraged. But on GC we are not competing against one another - just like to show off the good bits from time to time. This "affair" with Mother Nature has its hurts and its glories. But you have to feel the hurt to appreciate the glory maybe?
        Thinking of you anyway,
        Jenny

Clueless, is your mojo just gone when it comes to gardening, or is it everything?

I don't know. I hadn't really thought about it to be honest. I think its just the garden really, but on thinking about it, I think too much of my leisure time has been about the garden lately so I need to get on with all the other things I like doing.

I'm a tad like this, the thing to do is to walk away and take the break that you need, I find what brings my mojo back is when I look at the last two years photo's, I can only then see the progress I've made (and lost).

just switch to maintance of your garden, light duties only, then it wont all go to rack n ruin, and will be an easer task when your mojo returns, and if it does'nt return we'll spam you until it does :D

One thing which gave me a push in the gardening direction was: Pinterest. Now, not something I want to sign up for, but, Google "pinterest" + "gardening" and it pulls up a whole host of ideas, inspiration, wish-list, projects, ideas to be viewed freely.

It really has been an inspiration for me and I've "captured" some of the pictures into a OneNote file to muse and ponder on.

Actually, it was that which spurred on my lastest project of a "bottle" garden :heehee:

                      Life balance issue?

Stuff the garden and do what you want when you want (obviously around the responsibilities that you cannot neglect). What I'm trying to say (ineptly) is that you can spend your time as you please.

I've recently gone through one of my dark spells, and lost my mojo in all areas of life apart from the garden. So as work was not agreeing with me I reduced it to a minimum and farmed a lot out. I'm lucky to be able to do that I know, but I'm out the other side now, so take heart - it's just a temporary state:SUNsmile:

This happened to me a few years ago.
4 years ago we moved into my current house. And the summer after I started on my tropical garden. Did a L shaped raised bed as a start, and then planted some Chamaerops, Bamboos, and some Dicksonias. It was that bad winter that followed, and even though the tree ferns were covered with fleece, I lost them all (5 plants, between 2 ft and 4 ft). I was totally gutted, and despondant.
And although I still had a casual interest in the garden, I spent most of my time with my succulent collection in the greenhouse.

This spring, a good friend took me to Wisely, and my interest in outdoor gardening was rekindled. :dancy:
