Yes Lori I'll definitely post pics as I'm assembling the greenhouse. Tomorrow I'm going to paint the block/brick work with masonry paint, I don't like the grey of plain breeze blocks. Then once the base has been painted the structure is going up

I went all nutty this morning and ordered another small greenhouse to match the one at the side deck. Then I ordered 3 vents for each of the houses. Then I ordered 2 more charge controllers and lots of solar wires to power the lot. My big one already has fans and lights operating off of batteries so, why not just do them all... I'll see the fellow at the pub tonight who sells these great little batteries that reliably hold 35ah so I'll order 2 more from him to go with the controllers.

Okay, now I have that out of my system, I'm going to watch for your updates while I wait for warmer temperatures so I can start mine too!:phew:

I live in Ontario near lake Ontario and about 20 minutes west of Toronto. It does get pretty hot in the summer as we tend to go from one extreme to another. I'm also going to make new shade cloths for them. My old ones got a little shredded with raising and lower them so much last year. I think I will make a new system for them as I have lots of old roman shade hardware here that I can re-purpose. And I love to tinker and play with tools :)

Oh, forgot to mention that I did save money by purchasing the little greenhouse and the wiring, across the border. Even with the exchange rate, I shall save quite a bit and it's only an hour's drive to get to the place where I pick up. :)

@pete we do have greenhouse manufacturers in Canada however most of them are glass and have wood frames and I don't like the heavy look of them. I didn't want a hoop/tunnel either.

I also very much wanted a kit I could put together myself. The Palram company
Palram Applications | Style your outdoor living
is the brand of the first 6x8 greenhouse I purchased. Then I got another little 4x6 and this last one I ordered will match it. Their polycarbonate panels don't dent. I had some heavy fall on one and it simply bounced back up again. We had hurricane force winds tear through my area shortly after I put up the first greenhouse and it only shook a little. :)

              Curious what I paid?
              Okay
U.S. dollars $100. for the electronics and wires, $401. for the small greenhouse
Canadian dollars $410 for three louvres and 1 automatic vent opener.

I already have auto openers for the existing greenhouses. I have spare dc timers and fans and lights. I have spare shelving that I made to hang from the walls. I only now need two new batteries that will cost me approximately $200 total. And a couple of pressure treated 2x4s to make my frame.

So under about $1,500 Cdn for the whole shebang.

A wood greenhouse would cost me 3 times that without any accessories.

I think I'm getting a good deal - oh, I just realized that somehow my details have gone astray, let me fix that...

Certainly would go high on leeward side for gentler airflow. Heat can be problem, but best regulate that with shade net (or anything) but biggest evil can be mildews, moulds & fungii, for which the vent can help, but dont be afraid to whip out several panes of glass.
