Yes that's why I doubted myself nearly as soon as I'd posted and took another look at the pics! It did look very small out there on the lawn, but I think being wet contributed to that.

We live in a rural location so the occasional visitors we get tend to be very wary. But one year we managed to befriend a fox that was a bit braver, once it discovered the peanuts we'd put down on the patio for the badgers.

Has she got a name @Escarpment? I know a lot of people don't like naming animals, but I find it helps, rather than 'the vixen with a scar on her nose' or 'the starling that's a complete loon'.

What a beauty. I get badgers too, I used to put peanuts out. Then one day when I was watching them, a peanut fell down a crack in the concrete path and the badger was desperately trying to dig it out. They are so crazy about peanuts. The fox seems to enjoy the apples and calciworms I put out for the blackbirds. I have noticed lately that any apple remaining at dusk always disappears overnight.

Yes, might be an idea. I follow a channel on YouTube where an American woman feeds squirrels - it's called Squirrels at the Window. There are dozens of squirrels, and she has names for many of them and can tell them apart.

I've decided to call her "Rena", which means "fox"! Apparently "Lisa" does too (Russian origins)

Just caught her taking a drink, 10:15 am. So she seems to visit at all times of day!

Maybe she's getting extra food in her to prepare for pregnancy. She looks nice and chunky doesn't she?
I just read (and didn't realise) that peak time for cubs being born is mid March! I thought they were later than that.

Today I cut a pear in half and put out for the blackbirds. Then Rena came by shortly after 11 and found it. She really likes her fruit. She grabbed the first half and carried it off to the bottom of the garden. Then she came back to polish off the rest.

Thank you. She comes very close to the back windows making it easy to get a good shot of her. And of course, she's extremely photogenic!

                  She certainly is!!
My dad used to feed one out the window back in the day, but he couldn't get good photos in the dark.
