Have you been having tea with the Queen?- she has gone down with gastroenteritis, and she has to give up her duties for a few days.

I were always given boiled white rice with a bit of salt, and drank a bit of the cooking water when I was little.

    Get better soon.:sick0026:

Sorry to hear you're all under par Clueless. Yet another idea.....Arrowroot biscuits, a good old fashioned settler taking hunger pangs away at the same time. You can get them in most supermarkets.

    Get well soon. :)

So far so good. No technicolour yawns in our house since late yesterday. The lad is about recovered, but maybe a tiny bit run down. I'm still feeling a tiny bit delicate but apart from a bit of discomfort and restricted diet (soup, and earlier I had poached haddock), it seems to be more or less business as usual for me. Wife has a bit to go. She came to the beach earlier and only managed an hour before I had to bring her home, but at least she's on the mend.

Main thing now is exhaustion. I for one keep drifting off to sleep without warning and being out cold on the sofa for an hour or two at a time.

Credit goes to my mam. We usually go to see her on Fridays after work, but obviously this time we didn't. I phoned her to let her know we weren't coming, and that we are all puking. She offered to come round to help but I told her to stay away because I didn't want her catching it. She ignored me and came round anyway. Wife and I are so glad she did. By the time she turned up wife had deteriorated to the point of needing medical attention, and I had deteriorated to the point of being barely able to move. My mam took one look at wife and immediately phoned for the ambulance. Like some sort of machine she just seemed to do everything that needed doing. She even stayed over on Friday night. She went to the shop for supplies while I was still too weak to do it (I'm embarrassed to admit, I attempted to walk to the shop on saturday morning, and literally got to the next street before having to wobble back home). She's been helping us out all weekend, less so today because much of my strength is back so we could have managed, but she still came to take the lad out and offered to go the shops. We didn't need her to by today, but its nice that she offered. I tell you what, I might be a big lad now, totally able to look after myself, but it was really nice to be reminded that my mam is still my mam.

Glad to hear you are all on the mend Clueless. There's nothing worse than a stomach bug for deflating you completely and it takes a while to get over it, so don't over do it.

Once a mum, always a mum! It doesn't matter how old our children are they always come first, it's a natural instinct. :)

Hi so sorry to hear you and all have been ill. So many bugs going round this year.My lads are 18 and 21. They can be cocky bleeders at the best of times. But guess what, when they're really ill, all they want is me, mummy. And me being me, I run round after them, worry about them and sort them out.Like Sheal said you never stop worrying about your children, no matter how old they get.I'll still be running after mine when they should be running after me lol.
