    Do you have squirrels nearby, Jiffy?

    I had romantic dreams of chaffinches and the like nibbling my sunflower seeds - and they might have done, too - but the squirrels made short shrift of the flower heads before the birds could even say "Cheep!" :scratch:

    Yes we do have squirrels to date 62 squirrels,was,:coffee:

      Mine are 18" tall and doing well.

      This may sound completely pathetic compared to previous impressive efforts but it's the best I've done with sunflowers in many a year so I'm well pleased. Thanks, Mum! I'm confident I can bring them to a floriferous conclusion.

        My sunflowers haven't done well this year.
        Just flopped over and looking sad.

          We didn't sow ours until quite late :oopss: so they are now a very poorly almost 3ft high. I've cleared a space for them in the veggie/wild garden section and they're just settling in. They're alongside a group of courgette plants that we've just made room for (very small and weedy looking as they've been in pots too long) and they seem to be getting on OK together. :grphg:

            I was late sowing mine Mum:doh:but i've guarded them with my life and they are just approaching 3ft.....:blue thumb:....i didn't catch the name of them though:rolleyespink:...i just call them my special sunflowers;)
