Made a Start on Arbor

    finerly got to pick up the stone :doh:
    The Guy Had Some Some Beautiful Stuff But A Lot too BIG For the Scale I Will be Building On :yikes:
    He had a Arch Way that Spand 8"ft Wide out of the Front of a Church 2 Ton Aprox a Pair of Hevely Carved Gate Post Again 2 Ton Ish All Old Re Claimed Plus other Stuff Defantley a Guy I Will Be Keeping in Touch With :dbgrtmb:

    But As it Happens Was a Stone Mason I Have Never Seen How Stone Masons Work Before or How they Load Stuff or Move it With out a Fork Lift the Fork lift Wasent Working When I Got There And There was Something I Loved and Thought I Like That How or Where Can I Use That?? it was a Sand Stone Apex But a Little Big in 3 Sections and Around Half a Ton :yikes: My Pick up Can Only Carry Half a Ton the Stone I Went For Was Massive Bigger then it Appers in the Picture

    So is this Apex the Guy Kindle Said if You Dont Mind or Want to Come Back I Can Cut You Stone in Half Making it Easy to Manover and Build in to Your Arbor :cool:

    So How He Loaded it on too My Pick up He Drilled a Hole in Each Pice of Stone Twisting in this Shakell thingy Put a Scaffold Pipe thru the Hoop Ring and Me and Him Picked them up NO PROBLEM & Got them On My Pick up

    PROBLEM I CAN NOT GET THEM OFF :wallbanging: Looks Like Calling on My Bros and a Few Mates to Even Get them off My Truck

    and Got to Go back Next Tuesday to Collect the Other Piece
    These Pics Do Not Do this Stone Justice as too Age or Size Hope You Like it as Much As I Do

      That is a great piece of stone, FM :dbgrtmb:

      Why not give the guy a call and ask him if there is a trick/technique for getting them off your van?

          Where The Stone Mason Stored the stuff he had for sale was a Dairy Farm

            He used a Lewis Pin Nick. Been used since Roman times to lift stone.

            When we've had to move big stones without one we've built a lattice of timber upto it, slid the stone onto it, then take out a piece of timber at a time, or tilting the stone & adding timber to jack it up.

            Might pay you to get a lewis pin & an A frame if you're going to have to move them a few times. You could use the A frame to move VW engines too.

              Zigs is the Don God :paladin: Zigs is the Collage Knowledge :dbgrtmb: That is Exatley Wot He Used in them Pics I Would Like One Bit Expensive at the Mo trying to rebuild pick up and finish ice cream van and build this Arbor :yikes: Sertanley Busy @ the Mo ;)

                        Will Do :ThankYou: Had a Right Result Today Driving past a Midi Skip and saw some old Bricks Knocked the Door and Asked if I Could Have Some??

                        The Guy said I Would be Doing Him a Favor 150 i got :dancy: Then The Guy Asked me if I Had Any Use For 4 Sand Stone Victorian Scrolls the type that go under Victorian window sills said he had kept them for 10 years or so off a job and had no use for them and gave me them gave me a few roof tiles as well :love30:

                        He Asked if I Drive Past on a Regular Bassis I Said Yer Most Days Told me too look by his gate over the next few Days wot ever he leaves is mine :dbgrtmb:
