The home visit was so fast "I" nearly missed it, I think as they can see from the info you have to give, I have been "around" dogs a lot, it was just a look to make sure my garden is secure. Also the kennel girl who looks after "Maddie" may have mentioned how I handle her, a fellow "professional" can tell another.

I was explaining to my neighbour yesterday, it will be like having a puppy, she has never been in a home, will not be used to responding to commands, hopefully she is pretty clean, no dog likes soiling its own area. She has only ever been trained to ,walk on a lead, travel in a vehicle, and race. They also report she is a bit naughty with food, snatching, again experience tells me a possibility is, she may have been kenneled with a dog who ate her food for her, and a not very sharp kennel hand who didn`t observe. If you are feeding 50 or so dogs you cannot stand and watch but a glance as you pass by will tell all, and she is underweight ,another sign.

So went to "Tesco" yesterday, stocked up on dry food, treats for rewards. dental chews, bought a retractable lead, as no chance of letting her run for a while, muzzle, obligatory, dog bed and bedding, can hold off on a walking coat for a while , I need to get some grooming bits and bobs, but don`t want to frighten her with ,too much too soon.

Looking forward to 9.00 am Friday....:doggieshmooze:

I know what you mean about the home visits being quick :heehee: Oooh, you must be so, so excited, Pam (blimey, I'm excited for you! :roflol: )

In my (limited) experience of the Dogs Trust, they should provide you with a small bag of dried food to take home with you, plus a standard lead and collar (and ID tags) and two - yes TWO! - doggy poop bags :heehee:

Have you already discovered lots of exciting places for walks? Can't wait to see more pix when you have her settled :)

[IMG] It`s been a stressful day. I don`t usually watch tv early, I put it on for "Maddie" to get used to it , after an initial try to look behind, she appears to be ignoring it.

After some discussion it was decided she could sleep on the bed  , but  , how much room does a 26kilo dog require on a superking size bed.:snooze:

Aww, bless her, she just wanted to be as close to you and as spread out as possible after her time spent in an enclosure :doggieshmooze:

Ok, that is total rubbish: she's letting you know it is now *her* designated bed :roflol:

Glad your first night together was successful, Pam :dbgrtmb:

Ozzy is 48kilo's and there is no way he is going on my bed (as much as I would like to :heehee: ) Ayla is considerably less (obviously) but she has to sleep with Ozzy. So, I share with ... Echo (profile pic): he's far more accommodating
