So it`s been a week tomorrow since Maddie arrived, she settled very well as was obvious from her photo, since then I have had to leave her 3 times ,the first on Saturday while I fetched my new glasses, I had left her in the kitchen, with her bed, she had been having a look around , couple of spatulas on the floor and the oven cloth, nothing chewed. Tuesday I again left her in the kitchen, nothing touched at all, there are always shoes in the corner, my gardening clogs and my walking trainers, brilliant.
Today I slipped up to town and left her with the run of the bungalow, except the spare room where her food is, not a thing out of place when I got home, bought a pigs ear for her to try , gone in minutes, are they supposed to last longer than that...
On Sunday I gave her a short run off the lead and she came back well, since then always somebody else about, but today not a soul in sight, I let her off and she walked by me for a minute, then suddenly took off, she went right across the other side, my heart was in my mouth, in case someone came in with a dog, she is muzzled, as the law requires, but, I really thought she was going to go out where we come in and hopefully go home, no roads to cross. Then she turned to me and hurtled back, I made a big fuss of her and then put her back on the lead, she was panting a lot as it was hot, so one gallop was more than enough.
I am feeling that she is very content and happy,:doggieshmooze:

That is such wonderful news Pam. No wonder you have a feel good mood this evening. She has settled in so well hasn't she? Please give a little hug from Jenny, I'm sure there will be many more from the gang.

It sound like she's really settled already Pam, that's great! :) I don't know what it is about dogs and pigs ears. Years ago I had a really gentle natured West Highland Terrier, but give her a pigs ear and she was a completely different dog. If I tried to take it away from her she'd bare her teeth at me, I couldn't believe the change in her! My daughters Lurcher acted exactly the same way with them, very strange!

She is a real darling to have settled so well, Pam :dbgrtmb:

Oh I can just imagine how you must have felt that moment she hurtled off: coupled with how wonderful you must have felt when she came hurtling back :doggieshmooze: I agree: definitely one contented, happy dog, Pam.

Pigs Ears: do you mean the dried ones? :dunno: In case you do, keep an eye on her. Ozzy would devour one in the space of a minute. I noticed one day that he was eating grass (and we know what that means) and then *hrup* ... it was mainly smaller platelets of pigs ear which had sat in his tummy. Difficult things to fully digest I've decided. Maybe it was just because he was such a gannet with them but thought I'd mention it anyway.

our Snoop quite enjoys choking on pigs ears it seems :doh:especially on that very last small piece, you have to watch him as he wont bother chewing if he can just gulp it down whole :rolleyespink:

...our Snoop he really is such a plonker:imphrt:

What a lovely looking dog,she look's at home laid out on her mat.My girl Lady was also a rescue dog from the dogs trust. We where shocked to find out the conditions that the dogs where in when we went, all they could think about was getting hold of the money. They did mention a home visit first but as the young girl who helped out knew the people who kenneled our other dog,s before her, didn't bother. About 2 month's after we got her we found out that the Dogs Trust had taking all their dogs to another center.and finished with them. One of my friend's has just got one from Leeds dogs trust, she too had never been kept indoors ,but has settled in very well and is now house clean.

Taking up more than her share of the bed. I fondly imagined the purple quilt was where she would lie, has since been removed.

                      She is so tired.
As you can tell Jenny she has settled in well, and has soon established her routine, she is not a morning "person" after her first walk just before 7 am she goes back to bed for another hour.
                      Thank you for asking xxxx

Can I ask why you muzzle her she is not one of the breeds that require it, is she?

She certainly doesn't seem to be bothered by the muzzle.
