Awww...There's still this coming weekend to go as well Pam:gaah:....i think it's just as bad seeing our poor furries doped up as it is fractious isn't it,but we just do what ever we can to make things better for them...my poor old dog used to look in an awful sorry state but there was no other option:doggieshmooze:....

It's sad to see our animals suffer at this time of year, the poor things have no idea what's going on. I can remember when I was young, my family dog at the time was a Fox Terrier and she was terrified too. We found her one night tucked away in a solid wood wardrobe trying to escape the noise, so we shut the doors until it was all over and it made a big difference to her, having cut down the sound from outside. That's where she went every year afterwards. :)

i often wonder if the reason Polo was so exceptionally good with fireworks might be because (as i mentioned) when he was younger many a Halloween he accompanied us up to the bonfire & would sit & watch the firework display by our side so he was really properly exposed to them! most dogs (including Snoop & Fred) their only experience is of something unseen lurking outside making loud frightening noises...whereas there was no 'mystery' for Polo, he'd seen it all, saw what was making the sounds & saw us happy & excited as we ooh-ed & aww-ed watching the display so knew they were nothing he need fear :imphrt:

'course i could be way off :heehee:

I agree with that honeybunny, the more exposure you can give dogs to unusual sights and sounds at a young age the better.
Not so bad over the weekend just 2 lots Saturday night and 1 last night, the weather has helped though, rain stopped play, Please let that be the last of them, I am having to push and pull Maddie to go out last thing, and lift her off the bed in the mornings, through the day she is not so stressed although she does flinch at the noises from the steel works, something she didn`t do before.
She did look a little brighter this morning , and if no more fireworks and the weather dries up a little I may chance letting her have a gallop.

So Maddie has got back to normal since the last few odd fireworks Saturday and Sunday, she has been having her usual gallop first thing when nobody else about, but yesterday someone was walking a dog at the top of the field, I didn`t see them , so they must have appeared after I let her off, she took off like she does, I haven`t been able to stop that, too far away to hear anything then she started running back, I could see right away that something was not right, she had been bitten, her own fault I in no way blame the other dog, Maddie was wearing her muzzle, she is not allowed to gallop without it.She is keeping it clean, so I will monitor it, no swelling, I am loathe to dress it as I can see what`s happening better without. If starting to look inflamed I will take her to the vet.

Ouch - poor wee lass Pam. Hope it heals quickly without any problems. At least it's not hot and there are no flies around thank goodness,

It`s on the front of her left leg, she felt a bit sorry for herself yesterday, holding it up etc, she is a bit of a diva, so not sure how much it was hurting.
I have not let her gallop today, but she was racing about whilst I was cutting the lawn, and it appears to be bothering her less.

It`s been about a month since I cut it last, it`s just been too wet, it looks a bit rough but with another dry day forecast tomorrow I will probably give it another once over to tidy it up , hopefully that`s it till spring then

Had a wadge here too earlier - and last night. Think it was a Children in Need do at the junior school at the bottom of the road,
