Thanks, I crept up on him, and they always fly when you get too close, so was ready for it.

Still can't manage that, pete, you've had your camera longer than I! [IMG]

    Thank you, strongy!

I'm really pleased two of my seeds have germinated and K-G will be delighted one of her peach stones have ... you are the first! But we wouldn't expect less from you! [IMG]

How are the Mystery Trees doing ... I'm in the wrong thread here? Who cares ??????

Love those birds, GlenW! The wren - I'm so envious of you for seeing one in such a photogenic position, let alone being able to get the photo!! I only ever see them scooting around on the ground, or in and out of the rushes at the canal-side. The first one is a lovely photo, too! :D

Fabulous pictures Glen! You must have a great camera/lens?!

I love wrens too - we have one who spends ages checking out all the nooks and crannies, presumably finding something good enough to nibble! Such tiny birds, with such beautiful song - a real song burster!!!

Wrens are gorgeous wee birds with more 'tude/body weight than a lion!

I must have been near a nest one time and I got so much ear ache from Mr. Wren I had to leave what I was doing and do something else :D

    Fab pics GlenW!

Super shots with that Canon GlenW. [IMG] That extra bit of zoom afforded by the S3IS makes quite a difference to shots like that.As does the stabilistation at max zoom!

Quite by chance I was trying to snap a wren today but it simply refused to pop out from inside the briar rose it was sitting in.

thanks for the kind comments everyone [IMG]

Jarbax- as Dave W says, its a canon s3is I use, it has 12x optical zoom. I also use a sony 1.7x teleconverter on top of it.

Froggy- you're right about the attitude! I used this to my advantage when getting the photo's. I downloaded a wrens song from the internet and played it a couple of times in the garden. the local 'big boy' was down in a shot, shouting his head off! :D
i think its done wonders for his confidence too, he seems to be proud as punch that he's seen off the newcomer! [IMG]
