    Hi. Yes, that's exactly what I did. Once they're up, don't wait too long to plant out, or the root will be out of the bottom before you know it ! Claire, I get the fungal thing too, but it doesn't seem to harm the parsnips at all. Cheers...freddy.

    The fungal thing isn't a significant problem (as far as i've found). Mould can form, but once tubes are buried in the garden it doesn't seem to spread or infect the seedlings.
    One thing to watch is that when you plant out you ensure the top of the tube is below the soil surface as if it protudes too much it tends to wick away moisturefrom the roots and this can be a problem during dry spells in spring.
    When I sow in tubes/rolls I sit the tubes in about an inch of compost in trays - this helps keep them moist.
