Pete, you may have missed it (as the post was deleted) but there were swear words and they were not in context but just gratuitous.

Yep, I probably did, not sure what that was about.
But just putting this in the funny section seems a bit odd to me.

3 day week for some maybe, I had to take work home the other 2 days.

Hang on, wasn't that Ted Heath?

You were lucky to take work home, not something you can do if you need machinery to do your job.

Yeah that was Ted, a weak leader of the Tories.
He gave way, in an election and let in lLabour, who pandered to the unions for a few years until Thatcher sorted them out.

I salute you Baroness Margaret Thatcher

Today I learned that Baroness Margaret Thatcher is no longer with us and I was sad.
Margaret Thatcher won my very first vote at the tender age of 18 years old, I was excited to vote, totally unprepared for it and relied mainly on listening to my family and their close friends. It was a time when Labour was tired, when the UK needed something and along came Maggie as she’s affectionately known and blew us all away.
            The Iron Lady.
A lady who wasn’t afraid to stand up for what she thought to be right.
A lady who wasn’t afraid to stand up in a VERY male dominated world AND beat them at their own game.
A lady who, whether you think she was right or wrong, fought for Britain and for what she thought as Prime Minister was right for us and our country.
A lady who dedicated her life to running our country.
I am saddened when I see foul comments about her in the wake of the news of her death, is it necessary? You didn’t like the way she ran our country, personally I don’t think it’s an easy job and whoever is in that role will never be 100% perfect but does that give me the right to slate her on her deathbed?
Why can’t we all just hold our heads and respect the fact that a lady who governed our country has passed away. Or hold your tongue – you’re not going to change anything and whether you like it or not Margaret Thatcher is now an intrinsic part of our British history. She’s not the first either to create such debate and certainly won’t be the last.
Can we respect her family and friends in this sad moment?
            RIP Baroness Margaret Thatcher

I'm trying to remember which idiot government back in those days came up with the idea of restricting pay increases to employees of companies employed on government contracts. That led to the situation where my employers, despite making massive profits, were 'forced' to restrict our salary increases to a fraction of inflation, so again were 'forced' to dispose of the profits by having new, upgraded company cars, etc.

For those of you knocking the Unions, it's worth remembering that there were real people involved. I was involved in a dispute at work which ended with the whole factory being put off the clock. It was portrayed in the media as a strike, which it wasn't. I was deemed to be receiving £12 a week strike pay, which I wasn't. There were a lot of untruths told and dirty tricks. Don't forget, the National Union Of Mineworkers were only a very small proportion of total union membership at the time, so when good ol' Maggie declared war on the unions, she was declaring war on ordinary decent folk....nice...

That has been going on for years, never make a profit, you only pay tax that way.
Buy a load of new cars instead.

The Muppet show is GC's Adult section, it carries a warning,
We don't like to advertise it as a free for all as we don't want to encourage unecessary smut, but we accept that things of an adult nature get posted in here.

The thread was moved here as it has the possibility to blow up at a moments notice & the staff can't keep an eye open 24/7.

We didn't move it here to be in the funny section at all, that would be completely disrespectfull and that was never our intention.
