    Fantastic pics again, Robert, and a good idea about starting a new thread called "photomicroscopy". :gnthb:

    I think the one is an amazing close-up of lichen, and what delicate and darling little green and red insects just below it, :D.

    i know the greenfly are close up but whats them redflys?

    kinda spooky looking but very intriguing

    They are the same family Cumberland as well as blackfly some can be pink or mottled they are all Aphids (sap suckers).

          The liitle USB microscopes , like Capneys , that you can buy these days are great , I use one at work :yess:

          Oh it was Angelina that bumped it first, I just did it again as I knew Marley was on line.

          I'd not seen it before, great thread:dbgrtmb:

          The ash is from Eyjafjallajokull, we had a big fall of it in the West Country, nearly went dark for a few hours.

          Great thread - thanks for bumping it!

          They have these USB microscopes in Lidl from time to time. Not sure of the quality, but at £25 I'll take a punt next time.

          Nice to see this thread bumped. I shall have to dust down my scope and see what can be seen. My usual lappy is a windows 7 64 bit and the microscope software does not support it so i shall have to get out the the old Dell and fire it up.
