Saw this pic earlier this morning:

Do you reckon it'll be dried out in time for the Melplash Show? The Brit campsite opening's been delayed until 20th July at the earliest, and don't know whether that date was revised before these latest floods. Seems like it could be bit of an economic disaster coming at the beginning of the 'summer' hols, especially if anticipating lots of extra trade from the nearby Olympics at Weymouth.

It dries out very quick being aluvial gravel/sands, not sticky like clay.

It'll be ok as long as it doesn't flood again before then. I think the West Bay Steam fair is before then though, usually around the 18th. Not checked for this year, i'll have a look.

I'm even more amazed when they buy overpriced cheap bricklayer's hammers and climb up the fresh mudslides and start bashing at every bit of rock thinking they'll find a dinosaur.

And I thought it was bad weather down that way when Mrs Scrungee & I had a (very cheap) romantic break for the 2 of us down that way at the end of April whilst our daughter was away on an A Level Field Trip.

A woman's dog came back covered in blue lias mud about 20 years ago, they never found her body though.

Is the muddy 'fresh' water from the torrential rains still leaching through the back of Chesil and colouring up things around West Bex?

It is so sad, the girl was younger than Poppie.

We did try to warn folk.

But then again, so did Dorset Council.

I won't fish under those cliffs, too dangerous. There was another fall a few years back during a fishing match. Members thought they'd lost a couple but fortunately they were safe on the other side of the fall.
