          'Alec's Red' growing in my front garden. Not usually a fan of red flowers, but TBH I grow this one mainly for its full, sweet fragrance. Needs underplanting.

                    Second flower on my 'Warm Wishes'. So excited this time of year because my favourite rose of all, 'Margaret Merril', will be flowering soon. Such a rich, sweet scent and delightful flower form!

                          @wiseowl Fantastic photo of a beautiful rose! 'Fragrant Cloud' looking velvety in the sun yesterday. It seemed to smell particularly fruity yesterday, I wonder if it's something to do with the weather? :dunno:

                            Good morning @Nikolaos my friend your Rose 'Fragrant Cloud' is one of the most scented Roses in the world and the rain can make a difference to the scent:smile:


                            Orange or orange-red Hybrid Tea.
                            Registration name: Tanellis
                            Exhibition name: Fragrant Cloud
                            Bred by Mathias Tantau,Jr (1912-2006 (Germany, 1963).
                            Introduced by Unknown (Australia)in 1965 as 'Duftwolke'.
                            Hybrid Tea.
                            Coral-red, ages to geranium-red . Strong, citrus, damask, fruity, spice fragrance. 27 to 35 petals. Average diameter 5". Very large, full (26-40 petals), borne mostly solitary, cluster-flowered, in small clusters, high-centered bloom form. Prolific, blooms in flushes throughout the season.
                            Armed with thorns / prickles, upright. Glossy, dark green foliage.
                            Height of 30" to 5' (75 to 150 cm). Width of 2' (60 cm).
                            Can be used for beds and borders, cut flower or garden. Hardy. vigorous. Disease susceptibility: susceptible to blackspot , susceptible to Mildew. Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third.

                              @wiseowl Wow, thanks for all the info on it! I only have the Hessayon book on roses so reading all this is really interesting. They're certainly right about it being susceptible to blackspot! :)
