Boscobel finally opened today. It's very slow growing so far, though was only bought in October last year so is very young. Hoping it picks up a bit.

              Lovely dreamy photos @pitter-patter!

@Jess91 what is the scent like on Boscobel?

Here’s Vanessa Bell with Olivia Rose Austin in the background, all a bit droopy in the rain

Roald Dahl again, love the colour and shape of it but no scent for me IMG_5270.jpeg

@Athelas good question, it's an unusual one I think. DA describes it as "the myrrh fragrance has delicious hints of hawthorn, elderflower, pear and almond" but I think it smells a bit spicy! It's not a common rose type scent I don't think, but I do like it.

Your Vanessa/Olivia combo is looking fab!

My Generous Gardener rose is trying to open up but the wet weather is keeping them in check. This variety was recommended by our resident rose expert @wiseowl and the fragrance is incredible :)
If it ever gets sunny again I'll get some pics

My roses have been battered by rain. All my old roses are balls of mush. I deadheaded them before we left to stay with son on Friday and now they are mush again.:gaah::cry3:

Love all your roses @Mrs Hillard , especially your GdeF, mine is just coming into bloom, abt 2 years old now I think and already over 6ft tall. I'm going to try enticing it along a rope swag towards the sun where it's also got a couple of dark cherry trees to dive into. That's the plan!

That is such a shame @Busy-Lizzie , we wait all year to see our roses open and then more often than not, the weather dashes our expectations. I found out this afternoon that part of my rather tall Claire Austin has been blown over behind the arbour so I must see if I can somehow secure it to the roof tomorrow.

                              Loving this thread.
Having seen so many of @Mrs Hillard 's Bring Me Sunshine I have to say I am sorely tempted... Have an aster that has followed me (or bits of it have) from garden to garden for 30 years. This year it has turned up its toes leaving a rather large space (can only think it didn't like the wet winter).

Mrs H - what do you think Bring Me Sunshine would be like next to Clematis Niobe colour wise - or do you think something darker like Polish Spirit would work better?
