I'm hoping my GdF will have enough flowers to photo later today when the sun gets round there, it's making good strong shoots. Both my new Chandos Beauty and Desdemona are tantalisingly close, can't wait.

Some more roses. I'm only sending mostly flowers, not the whole bush as most of them are very young, a deer ate some of them and the heavy rain battered them just as they were starting to come out. Poor old breed roses, like Jacques Cartier, were covered in buds that just turned grey.

First flower on Little White Pet which I bought in March after our lovely West Highland Terrier passed away.


Only one bloom on Roald Dahl but hopefully more to come.

First year for this Ballerina rose.

 

I’ve been checking on the roses this evening and I’ve noticed that my Romantic Siluetta has crisped up in the strong afternoon sunshine. I did noticed it last year as well, but only when the temperatures were quite high. It might be a case of moving it to only get morning sunlight, though I don’t think there’s space anywhere.
@Mrs Hillard Does your Siluetta rose behave similarly?

 

I am hoping that someone will be able to identify this rose which is in a friend's garden near Perth. (Scotland - not Australia!).
It grows to about 5ft and is clipped back every year forming a rounded bush. It is covered with flowers all summer but each one lasts only a day or two. The sunnier the weather, the paler the flower. The flowers are small, about the size of a 50p. The thorns are wicked but the scent is lovely, especially in the evenings. It produces very many suckers in all directions.
This is the only photo I have. Difficult to get another as she is about two hours away. Thanks for any help.

I have 'Sweet Siluetta'. My rose is planted with early morning sun from the East, then shade until late afternoon sun from the West, so it's out of the midday sun. It's more north facing.

so yes, you might need to put your rose out of hottest sun. Even so, it's rather disappointing isn't it? it wasn't that warm today, I mean 70F is not exactly hot.

 

It is a bit disappointing. Fortunately it’s in a pot, but not sure I can find a suitable place for it. It was looking so fresh and pretty only this morning.

 

Perhaps it will get better with age @pitter-patter .. it would be strange for them to release a rose that couldn't handle a bit of sun.

 

All lovely roses today, nice to see such variety.

For i.d'ing roses it's best to show a full bush shot of the rose in the ground, rather than a few stems in a vase. I would find that almost impossible but maybe someone else can help.

 

@Mrs Hillard That’s what I told myself last year… We’ll see. It’s such a pretty rose otherwise.

 

My Pilgrim rose as CatDouch says above beautiful blooms but does get a bit of blackspot and the stems carnt support the blooms on mine

I bought ‘Elizabeth’ a month ago and here are its first flowers/buds.

After a while it becomes flatter, more ruffled, and paler
