@Mrs Hillard, my lodger agrees that my mystery rose has no scent.

That is a beautiful rose @Busy-Lizzie, I was going to buy a dark red rose last year to go in a pot I already had, but my brother very kindly pre-empted me and bought me Desdemona instead for my birthday. It is beautiful although I already have several white/cream/pale pink roses in the garden.

It's quite a fussy rose @lizzie27. I bought because it's a shady place and the flowers don't like being in the sun, makes them shrivel. It's also rather dry and I think Dr Jamain prefers it wet as it's been so wet this year and the rose has been healthier than usual. It's rather prone to disease.

Hi, everyone. The inevitable has happened and I have to say goodbye to my garden. I am in the process of buying a much smaller house with a smaller garden that is all lawn (quite a project again). In the meantime, some of this year’s rose seedlings have flowered and I would like to keep them.

Sorry to hear that @pitter-patter, but I am sure that the new garden will soon be beautiful and full of roses.

Despite the garden being smaller @pitter-patter, I hope you will enjoy having a blank canvas and turning it into something beautiful. Good luck with the move.

Thank you for the encouragement and good wishes. It has been a hard time and it will get even harder before it gets better, but I believe it will be alright in the end.

The gorgeous Moonlight...still suffering in a nursery pot. Can't wait to plant it in the new garden. It was an end of season bargain last year for £5. Just noticed the waft of its scent...subtle but lovely PXL_20240714_124543861.jpg

Good luck with your new garden @pitter-patter . You could even think of following @Mrs Hillard's example of ditching the lawn and having gravel paths/rose beds! Looks gorgeous and much lower maintenance.

                          Like that rose @amancalledgeorge.

@lizzie27 definitely not keeping the lawn, never liked it and I haven’t kept it in this garden. I much prefer flower borders, paths and sitting areas.
