You're right Paul - but then again I think lots of people browse through
the forum but don't post anything.

I don`t think it matters as such, just nice to notice. I use a few forums and have to say this is the best one. Considering how unlearned I am compared to some of you on one or two of the others I am considered knowledgeable (absolutely shocking)-of course I post links to here, and then blow my cover! LOL

What does it matter - what does it MATTER???!!

My life - if you'd been here when we reached our first thou, we rejoiced at that. Can't recall how old the forum was then, but it was around a year old. For those of us who've been here (amost) since the beginning, it matters a lot as it is a milestone along the life and growth of the forum.

Don't forget, Nathan built this forum from scratch, supports it out of his own pocket (rejecting any suggestions to have member sponsorship) and we are delighted on his behalf as well.

Anyway - it's just nice to mark the growth of something, that's all.

"supports it out of his own pocket"

Not having the site cluttered with adverts is a joy.

Voluntary donations might be something to consider if you want to expand. Wikipedia raises millions that way :thumb:

:thumb::thumb: Well said Daisees..!!:thumb: We have watched GC grow very steadily over the years.. It is a great credit to Nathan too for the site & that we are not over run with adverts as Kristin says..!!!:thumb:

:thumb: Also, we actually have an active membership of just over 400 at any one time, so it really is a pretty busy site & why it is so popular with the members..!!! I think too, that as it isn't so big, it isn't impersonal.... Just very friendly & helpful... Another plus for GC I think..!!!!:thumb:;):D

It's a great site and Nathan has said, many times, that he thanks people for offers of contributions but he is happy to continue funding it himself. :thumb:

It is very generous of him and, "Thank you very much, Nathan." :thumb: :) :D :D

Daisees, it was written by Robert A. Heinlein. He was a famous science fiction writer (amongst other things) and there are a lot of wonderful quotes that he wrote.

    He died in 1988.

I see no reason why you can't use the quote. :thumb:
