Monocarpic bulbs/plants

    Perhaps Musa is not monocarpic and Ensete is? (I have not idea I'm afraid, although Basjoo is Musa and my knowledge of monocarpic Bananas relates to Ensete family)

    I think Ensete is kind of monocarpic, but it rarely flowers in the UK.
    And now I think I know what you mean about cutting it down Kristen, to encourage pups, I have heard of this, but its used on Ensete rather than Musa I believe.

      There is something rather fascinating about the Musa blooms. Not beautiful, but fascinating.

      I made a bit of an error.Had a bit of a chance to rummage through my pics.
      Not found some really good ones I took of sikkimensis:scratch: Cant remember what year it was.
      The two banana flower pics I uploaded were Sikkimensis which is purple, the basjoos are yellow. Shown below. June 08 124.jpg June 08 052.jpg
