I made a list a while back as regards strong sweet smelling plants/shrubs (some are not 100% hardy, and must be grown in a conservatory in the UK) .... this is info I found on the internet from a gardening forum in the USA, which discussed the stronger smelling shrubs and never really followed through with checking them:

    Cestrum nocturnum
    Banana Shrub (Michela figo)
    Chimonanthus praecox (Wintersweet)
    Lonicera japonica
    Eleagnus
    Michelia ALBA
    Sweet olive
    Osmanthus fragrans
    Mock Orange
    Daphne odora
    Edgeworhia chrysantha
    Burgmansia candida 'Ecuador Pink'
    Burgmansia candida x 'Double White'
    pittosporum (tobira)

I had a close look at the spiders web and I like it lots .... some guys on another forum prefer the variegated fatsia and say the spiders web looks 'sickly' .... I most prob will get a spiders web for the current job as I have seen them selling for a tenner ... the garden already has a plain green one that I bought from B&Q for a few pounds (was marked down from £18 to £6 if memory serves me right)

sarcococca confusa is the best scent, but they yellow very quickly if underfed so if it's poor ground chuck some long lasting feed in:dbgrtmb:
