moving my japanese acer

    As I've previously mentioned, perhaps the best option would be to approach the purchaser of the house and come to an agreement about returning at an opportune time to remove it late in the year. There could always be an offer of another plant of their choice to plant in the "gap" caused by its removal.

    I think there are two ways of looking at this.

    One approach is that the tree is far to a fine specimen to consider moving it and killing it in the process.

    The other is that if you really want to keep it. its worth a shot at moving it as you have nothing to lose.

    I think the main concern is will the new owners want it?
    If they are likely to dig it out, (as new owners very often do) , I go along with Riley.

    But if the new owners say they like it, I'd go along with Whis4ey.

    Could you not t ake a cutting? It seems if you move it and it dies you will be more upset than if you lrft it to thrive where it is. I would check though whethrt they are going to remove it . If so what the heck. Go for it.
