BEFORE they try claiming 'Expenses' as they call them, ALL MP's should try to live on what they INSIST the Senior Citizens and many of who Fought to keep this country FREE of any enemy rule DO and for 6 months Minimum, IN order to prove it can be done.

IF they find they can't, then they SHOULD admit it and award the Senior Citizens, PLUS those who genuinely CAN'T gain employment through Ill-Health, the same pay rise as they award themselves.

MP's get an astronomical salary, plus 'Expenses' for arguing in the House of Comedy, yet do little else for their Extortionate salaries, but have refused to even TRY to exist on what the Plonkers claim Senior Citizens and the likes MUST, because they KNOW it is 100% IMPOSSIBLE.

An MP's objective and role is clear. To get rich for nothing, to keep the rich happy, and to keep the poor in their place. It is just like in the dark ages. If you are born into the working class struggle, you must stay in it for life and your kids and their kids must too.

The house of commons was originally set up to change this, and give the ordinary 'common' folks a voice. I wonder how many common folks actually get their say in the house of commons these days (if they ever did).

I think we should all see a list of those MPs who haven't been grubbing around in our money. Not sure how long it will be, there must be some. ( not holding breath).

Nice point about forcing MPs to live on what they think our pensioners should live on, people who actually deserve a comfortable life.

I may be missing something here , but why have MP`s gone from " I acted within the rules " to " I`m sorry I made a mistake "? Let`s insist the police investigate. Oops, sorry, they are too inept.:flag:

Thank you Clueless1, I like your answer.

Now and for everybody who SUPPORTS the Labour Party, HOW exactly can ANY MP forget they have applied for £60,000 in expenses, to pay off a Mortgage that HAS already been paid off? To me, this sounds like downright Fraud and the same MP concerned, SHOULD be Immediately sacked for Gross Misconduct and then legal proceedings taken against them for fraud.

My Partner and I are told we MUST live on a matter of £106.85 per week, plus £176.00 every two weeks, yet MP's CAN'T live on the same themselves and claim £Thousands, in expenses they are NOT entitled to claim. GOOD for the Daily Telegraph for letting the General Public know what our MP's are actually up to. Fraud IS Fraud and no matter what way it is done.

There was mention on the news the other day that Ray Mallen, former gaffer of Middlesbrough's police and a somewhat maverick but effective guy, is pushing for some MPs to be done under the 1968 Theft Act. Lets hope he wins, his record suggests he usually does.

I beleive they are still trying to find out who leaked the information regarding MP Claims etc to the press and i guess if and when they find out the person will get the sack or maybe even taken to court that would be wrong because i feel the law will not do anything about the any MP which have claimed incorrrect neither do i think the inland revenue will do anything about it we shall wait and see.

all of their dodgy expense claims will benefit the smaller parties

in scotland the SNP will gain strength and in wales Plaid cymru will gain too

in northern ireland nothing will change there

in england UKIP greens and dare i say it the BNP will gather more votes
labour is heading for a bloody nose the tories may make some gains and lib dems too could make some gains

labour has grown into the sleazy tory party of the 90's and will be thrown out for some years to come, the tories are just as bad IMO

Sorry to drag this thread up again but I'm getting past the seething point following the latest revelations. Husband and Wife, both MPs and both claiming second home allowances. How the H*ll could that possibly be "within the Rules". Said Husband and Wife have both decided to stand down at the next Election, surely they should be forced to resign straight away and face criminal charges.

Listening to the Radio yesterday, so far 11 MPs have decided not to stand at the next election as a direct result of the expenses row, it transpires that if they resign they do not qualify for the "resettlement allowance", upwards of £30K, whereas if they stand down, they do. Is that taking the p*ss or what ?

I don't believe these thieves understand the strength of feeling about this unnacceptable situation.

That is the first I have ever heard of a "resettlement" figure for MPs.............I'm in the wrong job. I thought you just had to apply for another job when you lost your old one, and tighten your belt in the meantime-well it is for the rest of us.

The ones "who will not stand at the next election" should go NOW so that they cannot claim the millions in payouts. All the thieving ******** should be prosecuted - if it were you or me we would be. If they all paid back what they stole then the country probably wouldn't be in recession!

What really is amazing is that we, the general rabble, all agree this has been wrong and has been going on for years. Try to imagine the same situation in, say, Italy or France. The "rabble" would have stormed Parliament demandng the people to blame should go - and it would have worked. The British just sit on our backsides complaining but doing nothing. Not voting won't work. Voting for another party won't work - they are all the same! The expenses claims I would like to see investigated next are those of the Speaker who I believe is now going - so he can get his payout as well.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't usually get so uptight about things but this really makes me boil. I live on a pension, such as it is watching every penny and these thieving b******* take more and more illegally and then get a payout when they deign to resign. Fire them and prosecute them - maybe then we would believe the government is doing something for us.
