    I need some advice guys.

If you look at the picture of my new tree, how deep do you plant it ? Do you plant the graft below the soil or plant as it is in the bag ? The reason i ask is that this tree was obviously lifted when dormant then put in this bag bare root with compost added to the bag so i am not sure how deep it was in the ground.

Another question, where in the border shall i plant it ? Its going top left side of the garden after the turf is lifted. Middle as a feature or at the back where the Magnolia is ?

I know a long way of before planting but i need some idea's guys :blue thumb:

Thanks for progress update Mr G. I love to watch the birds stripping*the berries off the Rowans in our communal garden in Winter. I am sure it will grow into a shapely tree.
*Steady now GC chaps - this is an afternoon response...

The graft has to be above soil level Mr. Grinch. If it was mine it would be planted in the lawn, but answering your question I'd go for middle I think. :)

A very chilly night. Sun today though.
            Mr G's Garden Watch
Did a bit of dead heading and sprayed some more weed killer on the Jap Anenome leaves that are sprouting. Might dig out the rest of the path's over the weekend. Weather looks dry 3 or 4 days. It was hard work bagging up all the turf so the excavated soil i get over the weekend maybe piled up and used in the garden later. Also tidied up the strawberry plants, getting rid of last years leaves. They have loads of flowers on aleady so hoping for a bumper crop. The French Lavender that i thought had died is growing. Cant believe it. They lasted the whole winter in plastic tubs. One looks worse for wear, half has died but fingers crossed. The Rhodo that i moved out of the wet and into a tub is starting to flower ! Amazed. It looks happier already so will give it a feed of ericacious feed later today.

Cloudy today. Forecast no rain. Fingers crossed.

I wasnt happy with the re-seeded patches. Despite me healing it in, they seem to have dropped so i bought some more top soil and raised the level before re seeding. I also forked the bits in between as over the years, they have dropped with all the traffic. I dressed that also before a bit of seed was added.
The Wiegiela's are coming into there own at the moment, very nice flowers although the Aquilegia are not doing that well this year. I think i may take seed from what i have and sow to replace what i have for next year.

The last two days have been dry, today better than yesterday.
              Mr G's Garden Watch
Man flu has taken hold. The last two days have been really rough. I had planned to dig the rest of the path foundation out but just dont feel up to it. Noticed my two Buxus balls today had loads of the Buxus aphid on them. Ive read that its too late to do much now but gave them a spray just in case. Also noticed my Euphorbia has loads of mildew, again, the damp weather i think. Gave it a spray but again not much that can be done. Dont feel like doing anything.
