No rain but very cloudy and overcast.

    Mr G's Garden Watch

Really bad man flu. Onto Day 4. Little bit better nights sleep last night but throat still burning hot with all the other symptoms. Ive noticed a few plants that do not seem to be doing well this year. The new Lupins that i planted in March do not seem to be growing whilst the established Lupin's seemed riddled with mould and aphid. The Aquilegia are well behind with the flower's heads on some plants being half the size and the foliage on others going yellow. Other plants seem to doing really well. The Day Lilly are putting on loads of growth, the Wiegeila are amazing and the Geraniums doing well.

        Hi Jenny,

I think the Geranium is "Johnsons Blue". They love my soil here and i have no problems at all growing any type. No its not ground elder, they are Astilbe :blue thumb: although i seem to have loads of ground Elder seedlings sprouting everywhere this year. Never had it before, seem to spend my life pulling them up

Im looking to move the Acer which is in the pot. Although it looks good, its covering up Geranium and Aquilegia underneath. Not sure where to put it though.

Aaah Johnson Blue lovely. Whooops Astilbe NOT the dreaded - which is the bane of my life too. Where to move the Acer when the garden is "stuffed"?You, me and Helen Yemm all have "stuffed" gardens. I have "lost" a clematis that is buried under Campanula "Kent Belle". I reckon we could start a WHOS "LOST" WHAT IN THE BORDER thread!

I must be feeling a little better. Ive just dug out the bit of the path that leads to the bottom patio. Killed me though. Only took 20min, but i feel like ive done a days work. Ive piled the soil next to where the path's going to go as i will use it on the border once ive taken the grass away. Looks messy and with my OCD's annoys me a tad but it will only be for a month or two. Better get used to it. :gaah:Its 6-8 inches deep now so once i get 2-3 inches of hardcore/type1 in that should leave me about 2 inches of mortar to msake it nice and firm.

May attempt the other bit later.

          G

:nonofinger: Sunday posting Loli :nonofinger: let him have a good night's sleep before he moves that Aquilega and the geranium.
Have you an appetite for your Sunday roast Mr G ? It's pork with apple sauce here and rhubarb crumble for pud. Maybe a Radox bath will help tonight?

Roast Pork for me too !! Loads a crackling !!! I am feeling a little better after that digging session. I may even try a glass of wine.
            :blue thumb:
The Geraniums are fine its just a group of three Aquilegia that are dying which is strange as there's another group a foot away that are thriving.

Not my style, Mr G. Not a straight edge or trimmed shrub in the garden, just unrestrained happy plants.:snork:
