Thats the thing it showed the Box partaires evolution from plain hedge, that i do find a bit boring to over 150 years or so later, the unrestrained fully blooming flower bed that was contained by a clipped box hedge, the thing that i love.

Not much done today. Just trying to think when i can dig out the rest of the path.
The garden looks messy with all the soil about.

Started off very chilly and cloudy but by 10am it was glorious. Warm sunshine and not a cloud in the sky.

Dug the rest of the foundation today and took it all down the dump. Knackered. I just want all this to be over so i can concentrate on the plants. The garden is drying out now, which im thankful for. The earth really smelt when i dug it today, clear indication of poor airation. When the path's are layed the first job i will do will be to rake the lawn, fork then top dress with a mix of top soil and sharp sand. I will also add grass seed to the mix. I did this few years ago and it works wonders although the lawn looks rubbish for about a month.
A few bee's and loads of birds still about. The Robin's love it when i dig, they come down a take all the worms.

      Sunny and hot.

I used my new sprinkler system last night, perverse i know after all the rain of the last few months but as we hadnt had any for a week and it was new i thought i'd give it a go. Its great, i layed it in March and now you cant see it in the border. I got tired of wasting water on the lawn with the old sprinkler and it used to flatten the plants. The new system worked well but filled up the dug path footings as it perculated down. The good news was that there was no water this morning :blue thumb:
My two Clematis in tubs are now floweing really well, they look great. Fed the strawberry's plants and kept the potted up plants wet. The grass seed has started to sprout in patches on my lawn also. I decided that one of my older Lupin plants will be disposed of after this summer. Its just got so woody and not delivering. Shall i dig a little wildlife pond in the top left hand corner ?? :dunno:

I am now taking 10 days break. I need it. When i restart, i need to shift the top soil to the right taking it to the dump. I then need to order some Type 1 and lay that for the paths.

The Clematis are looking lovely Mr. Grinch, I can't get them to survive in my garden, let alone flower. :)
