Well, I like it, Chims, I've got a collection of old books with painted flowers on "plates" for reference and some of the artistry is beyond belief.

I think you get "pauses" in your ideas and efforts in the garden Mr G, where life overwhelms you with having to do so many things that you seem to come physically and mentally to a stop.:dunno: But then the pressure eases off and you're back again doing what you do, and it sounds that's what you're doing now.!:snork:

True Armandii, i have a very packed social life and in high demand BUT alas, its all down to the weather. Ive lost weeks because of it. I had hope the bulk of it would be sorted for the Jubilee but holidays, weather, beer, cider, football and cricket got in the way. Besides, once its done, i'd have nothing to bore you all with

Will be when all the ground works done. Its no fun, tiring and can be frustrating BUT strangely satisfying. I had hoped to have up the four slabs that i cocked up on today and make a start on the third drainage trench but unfortunately, i had a few too many last night watching the footy and feel shocking. The older i get, the worse i feel
Once i can start moving and planting, i'll be happier.

For some reason i am not getting any email notifications :dunno:
Feel better today. Took up the four slabs that i messed up on. Surprisingly easy BUT breaking up the concrete underneath was hard work. Still, all done now. The lumps were dumped in as footings for the rest of the paths and some dumped in the soakaways. Broke up all the cement footing on the left hand side to aid the drainage when my last trench eventually comes over. Forecast is rain tomorrow so in for a another wait before i can do anymore.
Jobs to do for the coming seven days, lay all the type 1 in the footings and dig the last trench.
Im off to the garden centre :dbgrtmb:

Picked up today Ceanothus 'Victoria' from the local nursery. I plan to put this where my wildflower patch is at the moment once they have finished. I also picked up four Hornbeam saplings which were the left overs from their winter batch. I will neec another 11 to finish the hedge at the back but much cheaper buying these in winter bareroot.

                      Glorious day. Sun and hot.

Just spent the last two hours digging my last drainage trench. Hopefully this will relieve the wet side a bit quicker. If it doesn’t then there's nothing more i can do. The next task after its tested by a few days of rain is to line it with garden fabric, fill with shingle then cover with the spoil and re lay the turf.
The roses are looking amazing at the moment. Its amazing what a few days of dry sun does to bring them out. The scent is to die for. Pic's to follow.
