The spot where you have your patio set, would look amazing with a pergola, or structure of some sort, so you could get some vines growing and give you that much more privacy.
Plus around thee perimiter of the structure, you could plant some grasses, those are nice too.;)

The picture of your patio set, what are the flowers on the left, it looks like purple flowers coming out of the bushes....very pretty.

They are Clematis Penny. I have a purple one on the near side and a red one on the other. I planted them at the base and just cut them back hard every spring. It just gives a bit of interest in the Viburnam over summer.

Something to think about there Penny thats for sure. I like sun so i dont want it too shady and im not that bothered about the privacy thing either. If they wanna look at me, go ahead :snork: I think it would like nice though so will look into it for next year :blue thumb:

Thats good that you dont care so much about your neighbors:blue thumb: , and having privacy....the pergola (i call it that) would look nice and you could keep the vines trimmed so that the top is still open for sun.;)

I planed virginia creeper on our privacy panels, to keep the neighbors from constantly looking over ....and always watching what we are doing.

Now.....my neighbors on the other hand are dumb as frickin tree stumps:gaah:

                  Little update.
Ive been having a rest after this years exertions. Just enjoying the garden at the moment. Pottering here and there. I was given three pots the other day so ive been trying to find a place for them. In the larger one, ive pot my Rhodo that i saved earlier this year from the wet. The other two im thinking of having a Buxus ball in each.
Ive also been moving plants around, and putting plants in pots ready for the re-design next spring. Ive ordered my Tulips today, the two tree's are also on order.
The weather has been great over the past week or so and its amazing how everything has dried out. I even had to water the Hydrangea last night as it was wilting and that was in the "wetter" area of the garden. You cant win :dunno:
The Heleniums are looking fab at the moment, one of my favourite late summer flower.

Thats the eventual aim chimney. Its not practicle with the kids at the moment as they are young and will trample all over them. With the Box i think it would give it amazing structure in the winter and will break it up in the summer.

It's looking great Mr. Grinch, even with your drainage issues you've achieved a lot this year. Enjoy it now for what's left of the summer. :)
