Mine only wanted to grow Gourds until they were about 9 ... had to be piled high in a pyramid all winter, and then removed one-by-one as they rotted ... would have much preferred they had had a go at growing something edible.

Eldest says she's been scarred-for-life, and put off gardening forever, by all the pots littering the kitchen windowsill over the years, and the amount of potting-on and so on that has gone on in the kitchen when the weather was miserable outside ...

Radishes are so rewarding to grow as their progress is easy to see. :dancy:

I agree with raddishes, and also salad leaves (the cut-n-come-again type) as they are more "tolerant" of uneven sowing.
Do you have herbs in another area of the garden? As a child, I loved herbs - the smell of the leaves, and the fact that I was allowed, nay, encouraged to pick a leaf and crush it for the smell. Maybe growing chives, chinese/garlic chives, sage, having a go a rosemary cuttings next spring?

Sounds easy then. Even i can put up a raised bed a foot deep :blue thumb:
I'll probably do Lettuce, Carrots, Radishes and onions, not many but just enough to get her going. Maybe try garlic later. I might also get her to sow some Marigolds to plant around the patch.
I have Strawberry's and a Rosemerry in pots on thye raised bit Sian.

The mini wall needs to be taken town and re done, maybe need to get a few more to make up the numbers. Spring job for a May planting hopefully :blue thumb:

Nothing much happening chimney. I hibernate in winter like a bear.

Done some clearing up yesterday, taking away dead stuff but other that that im resting. I decorate in the home during winter. Its the hall and landing this winter.
