      Spent some Christmas vouchers today.

I wanted an evergreen easy to grow shrub with a bit of colour so went with Viburnum tinus "Gwenllian". This has now gone into the east facing border where it was in need of a bit of greenery. I also needed something with a bit of winter interest so i bit the bullet spent the cash and bought a Callicarpa bodinieri "Profusion". The berry's on these are amazing. This was planted aswell.
I also moved an old rose that wasnt in the right spot, i have my concerns it will survive as the major roots went out a long way and i had to cut a few to get it out but i did and was put in its new spot with plenty of good stuff around the roots. I will feed all the roses in spring.

Inspecting the Box today. Noticed another 5 plants with the dreaded black splodges on the leafs, so they were pulled up and burnt. Im hoping this will stop the main spread to my more established plants. In the spring, i will re inspect, burn any more affected and pot up the rest and stick them down the bottom out the way. Maybe use them as spares if i need to. I'd rather bin the young plants than have it rampant in my more established bigger ones. The Box aroiund the path has not really worked, they are not doing well and plants grow over them so a plan re think in order.

Took out he first lot of Box today. The east and west border plants were taken out, a couple more had signs of blight so were burnt. The rest looked fine. They all had good root runs. The soil was wet at best, boggy in places at worst and smelt a bit in one corner so growing conditions for these were poor. They were potted up and now put down the back out the way.
To be honest, the garden looks better after taking these out. The box at the top and bottom ends look great without the connecting plants. Might wait and see what happens.

I have around 150 small daffs in pots in the Garage as a left over from last year which I had forgotten about and they're just starting to come to life again, but it's much too cold to put them in the ice hard ground as yet.:gaah::dunno::snork:

Wow cold today. Hard frost, garden looked dry and beautiful especially with the odd flurry of snow.
I mulched one border today, i know you shouldn't when frozen but there's plenty of time for it to warm up.
