Lovely day today. Put together the kids wildlife pool, now looking for a few plants to surround it to tone it down a bit. Will wait until next month to get them.
Pruned the Hibiscus in places, cut back the Clematis, watered a few large plants that i moved in winter. Loads of ladybirds about today, they seem all over the Box. All sunning themselves.

Next door has had enough of the wet as well. He is putting drainage pipes in the lawn to a sump with a pump. Im hoping that will help me a wee bit aswell. He tried to say its because everyone is creating gardens that its blocking the natural flow of the water (pointing to my creation) but i know better. When we moved in 9 years ago, there was a huge conifer a few doors along, this was taken out and there was also a huge Prunus tree in his garden that had to be taken out because it was rotting. Both these took up huge amounts of water in the spring and summer months and now they have gone it hasn't helped the amount of water in the ground. I think it will help what he is doing, as it helped with mine BUT the underlying conditions will be the same. I guarantee that between October-March the garden will still be very wet indeed.

I wouldnt say that Jenny. There are still places that i struggle to find the right plant. I always go back to my old favs. Im such a stick in the mud.

Mowed the lawn today, scarified then mowed on a high setting. Although looking a bit sickly, its really done a lot better since i gave it that late cut in October. No bare patches. Will wait now until April for the next mow, scarify again then mow on a low setting. Leaving it a week, then weed and feed end of April. By May, it will be lovely and green.

Bought three Monarda, three Lupins, and Ronuncerlos (think thats what it is). Also bought a couple of sacks of play bark to finish that area.

Planted some self sown Aquilegia, Monarda and Lupins yesterday. Tidied the lawn edge also. Always makes it look better.

All good plants to have in the garden, Mr "G":snork: I find Aquilegia like my sandy light soil and self seed easily so they are always in the borders as do the Lupins, while Monarda take some persuading to last more than 2 seasons.:dunno:

Yes Monarda love the clay and damp so maybe your sandy stuff is not to there liking.

I think you're right, Mr "G" as I've been struggling for years trying to get them into a third season because they are one of my favourite plants. plus the Bees love them. I'll keep trying:coffee::snork:
