Tell me about it, i have no idea how they get a crisp exact square shape when they clip them in the stately homes. Mine is square ish, i've used the patio edge as its straight line, there are still areas that are either a bit short or a bit narrow so will be another year or so i think before it's the finished article. Not to mentioned the Box at the bottom which will be at least another 3 years before its how i envisaged it. You do need patience with Box.

This section of Box has been four years in the making but it has been dug up by the chooks and trampled over time and had to have some replaced ,still higgledy piggledy though which is driving me nuts

 

Looks good Loli. Dont be too harsh on yourself. Four years is about right. Mine is at 3 so far, another year and it should be as i want it.

 

Says you...but I do believe we're on the same wave length.It's that sappy new growth I cringe to cut harder back into in case I make a hash of it.I was trying to console myself with 'well it'll grow back'...I have Box cones and spheres which I trimmed today and I don't think people realise how difficult it is to get it right.It's easy to become obsessional about it...tonight when the sun has gone down the Box I've trimmed will get a foliar feed of seaweed to keep them on my side

I have four cones around the play area and pool and i tried to do them and...... well it was too difficult to get a regular shape on all four so i just chopped the tops off and now they will be columns.

Ive done all the Box now but still go back every night to tidy the bits i have missed. Worth the effort though.

 

Your garden is looking great Mr. Grinch, you may have torn your hair out over it at times but it's been worth the effort.

My brother started losing his at 17 and my son has only skirting boards left at 36 so you're not alone. Just 40! Blimey, I feel old.

 

I'm not quite at that stage yet Armandii but clearing up after trimming the hedge today I felt like it.

 

Not skirting boards just yet but i noticed mine starting to go at 30, so out came the choppers. Nobody notices now. I blame, my Grandfather and his father. They were baldys, and my Uncle as well. I stood no chance. Saying that my brother and two cousins have kept there's. I'm just unlucky. Barstewerds

 

We need to blame it on something, genetics are good enough.

My son had really thick hair like my husband so we put the loss down to motorcycle helmets and a stressful job.

 

Any ideas on how to get more wildlife in my pool ? The plants are growing well and i get the odd bird drinking or bathing in it but that's it bar mosquito larvae ?

Silver Birth being striped. Closer inspection loads of caterpillars. 100's off them. I've just gone round and squashed them all. Shame as good food for birds but they are not clearing them.
