I have just found out that apart from our lovely Tawny owl couple, we also have a Boreal owl in the hamlet outside our house. Well one of the many subspecies I suppose. I will keep an eye out, maybe I can spot it.

    Makes me happy! :)

      Oh my....

As you might have (or might not have) read, I started my propagator project on Sunday. Of course I had hoped that seedlings will grow happily, however I never expected them to grow as quickly as they do:hate-shocked:.

I took some photos this morning, chuffed about little seedlings showing, and I have just returned home to this:

A bit of logical thinking would have prevented these little monster from growing as quickly as they have. I should have removed them from the propagator to slow down the growth, but hey ho, we will manage :) .

But now it's time to move them to a new home for now, because it is still too cold outside to actually plant them in the garden.

And this is what I did today.. let's hope they survive the move. Especially the brussels sprouts and the tomatoes look a bit weak. So let's keep our fingers crossed that they pick up.

Looking at my little pots I think I have to dig up the other two beds, too. I have enough kohlrabi plants for one bed alone.. that is if they all survive.

I have found those leaves next to my raspberry bush.. well baby twig thing.. it's not a bush yet.

According to my faithful helpers from the Gardeners Corner, I think we have identified them as foxgloves. What would I do without your amazing knowledge, guys?

With foxgloves being toxic, I will have to move them. Also because they will pull nutrition and water from the raspberry's cane root, which is vital if I want the bush to ever produce any fruit.

                  Mrs Tea,

It's nice to see what you are up to on your plot, but I come to GC to browse GC, not to go here and there on the net.

Can you not post the whole post here where members can enjoy it?

                  Steve...:)

It's the whole post, Steve, just without the images. But yes, I can add all images. I just don't know how to make them smaller. But I keep them large as long the admins are alright with it on CG :)

I bought one of those propagators this year, it's been great :)

Just wondering about the site and the builder. I think allotments are required to be used as such so a word with the council may get the storage removed and the allotments returned to use

Agree @Loofah Allotments must only be used as such
Maybe the Council sold off the land to him ?

Mrs Tea you must make enquiries

                      Hello Loofah and Jack,

I refer to my garden as allotment because the garden is not directly at the house. It's about 30 yards away from the house behind some old garages. But all the gardens are privately owned, not by the council. Unfortunately many property owners don't look after the gardens anymore, and this neighbour of mine claimed them with the land registry. He is now trying to claim the ones next to mine (with the red arrows) because nobody maintains them. But our garden, and our neighbour Shirley's garden are basically in his way to create one massive area, so he keeps asking us whether we want to sell.

But we stand our ground and won't sell !

I had to admit defeat on the tomato front..

Eager as I was, I planted too many, and had to accept the fact that they all needed more space, more light and generally didn't like the way they had been sown.

I tried to save some of them (three) by putting them into separate pots, but after a long weekend away, we now only have one sole survivor. And as things stand I doubt that this little guy will make it either.

I am considering trying again, or I just get a plant from my local garden centre as soon as they have them out.

                        You have to move!!

.. or: time for a new temporary home.

The little ones are getting big now, so I decided to separate them. I put the kohlrabi outside, at least during the day, so they get used to the weather. So far we have no more frost forecasted, but I don't trust the weather just yet, so I will leave them inside for another fortnight.

As you can see in the first picture, my brussels seem a bit limp, so if you have any advice on what might be wrong with them, it'd be greatly appreciated!

And earlier today, my sister came over and brought me two tomato plants because I was so upset last week that my own attempt to grow them had failed.

My nasturtium was completely covered in black aphids last year. I mean covered! :yikes:

I am wondering whether it might be better to put the plant into the garden, rather than keeping it in a box in the yard? I was hoping that putting the plant where it's accessible for beneficial insects such as lacewings or ladybugs would decrease the aphids infestation. I was even considering buying lacewing eggs.

Any advice or experience is greatly appreciated. Thank you! :ThankYou:
