Does anybody else remember this from their childhood?

WOW (sigh) takes me back 60, yes 60, years when a boyfriend used to bring his 78s to our Youthclub
and Sparky was one of them. Happy days!!
Part two was my favourite when the piano said "run your hands over my knees (sorry - keys) :hehe:

Sparky's magic piano, by Henry Blair with Ray Turner at the piano,
Narration by Verne Smith, Music by Billy May.
Released by Capitol in 1947, the full story was over 6 sides.

Daisees tells me you can download the whole thing from Amazon for 69p - bargain :thumb:

Thanks for that, jjordie. :gnthb: :)

I remember Sparky very well. They always played the records on Children's Hour. I think that this first one was the only one that didn't have the piano talking.

On a more serious tack. I saw a TV programme recently that was about the concentration camps in Germany. It reminded me of the song 'Where Can I Go?' which was written by someone who, at the end of the war, had been rescued from the camps and had lost all his family. It was originally written in Yiddish and then translated to English and was very popular in the 1950's in America.

This version is sung by Miriam Makeba (Mama Africa) and I think is the most evocative version. Listen to the words as well as the beautiful singing.

I presume you didn't want to link to challenges in afghanistan, or a flautist(maybe you did).

These problems on youtube come up a lot, sometimes it because someone using a proxyserver has uploaded, or well, there's loads of different reasons. The recent changes have made it worse.

Hi chums. Following my recent holiday in Kefalonia, I was reminded of that great movie, Captain Corelli's Mandolin. I decided to buy it and watched it the other night. Such a great movie and an equally good soundtrack. I was particularly moved by this tune.
