Someone in the US has put one of these on eBay. I think it's cute.

You got two records for 5 cents, but no choice of which records!

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140435868069&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fcollectables.shop.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2Fi.html%3F_nkw%3D140435868069%26_sacat%3D1%26LH_PrefLoc%3D1%26_odkw%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fcgi.ebay.com%252F140435868069%26_osacat%3D1%26bkBtn%3D%26_trksid%3Dp3286.m270.l1313%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1

Here's an example of one working.

Hmmm, if someone came here claimed that all classical music was cr ap, they would rightly be considered a little ignorant and they'd hopefully be picked up on it.

Fair enough if you dont like some hiphop, but dismissing the biggest selling, most successful genre of music in the world as 'cr ap' seems very blinkered.

Is there any 'modern' music people like, anything this year, or this century ;) :) There are some really impressive singer songwriters around at the moment doing a roaring trade in downloads.

I think you may be on to a bit of a loser here, Melinda. Although perhaps ajshep is a kindred spirit. :) There should always be a healthy generation gap in music. I would have been mortified if my parents had liked anything I listened to. Not much danger of that. The Stranglers were very scary people back in the olden days, although they're almost cuddly now. :)

I quite like this, heard it on the credits of a film this afternoon on TV. So I downloaded off YouTube.

There have been some excellent singers and songwriters this century. :thumb:

In its defense I think that to call rap starting with a 'C' is purely a subjective opinion (which we are all entitled to have) but to call hiphop the most successful genre is also not quite objective. It may have the largest number of downloads at the moment (I don't have any figures for it) but it hasn't been around long enough to be able to come up to the sales of vinyl and disc.

Michael Jackson sold 110 million copies of the 'Thriller' album and Bing Crosby sold 30 million copies of his 1942 'White Christmas' single (Elton John has topped that with 33 million sales with his combined titles of 'Candle In The Wind' and 'Something About The Way You Look Tonight'). With rap, Soulja Boy Tell 'Em did pretty well with 'Crank That' by selling over 5 million singles and the highest selling single in the hiphop type genre is by T-Pain with 6 million copies of 'Buy U A Drank' (you may want to argue about whether snap is really hiphop :flag:)
There were many millions of lousy (or cr*p) songs brought out in all genres of music since before the production of records and modern music is no exception. The good ones survive and time will show which of those of the modern genres will do so.

Careful, Shiney, remember 'Kevin and Perry Go Large'? (Period piece from 2000.) Kevin's parents make the mistake of remarking that they quite like Oasis. A horrified Kevin throws a complete and utter wobbly and ends up shouting: 'You've never even heard of Oasis! You're all saggy and rotted!'

Its her off the Cosby show! I thought it was going to be a cover of John Mayer's sublime 'Gravity.' There you go, John Mayer, a bit of a douchebag, but he is a young singer songwriter who sounds like he is writing from another age!

This is yummy. [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7VBex8zbDRs"]YouTube- ‪Gravity by John Mayer‬‎[/nomedia]

James Morrison is equally talented, not at easy on the eye but he's less of a douche, so it all balances out in the end.
Also yummy. [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s993u4qAyiw"]YouTube- ‪James Morrison 'You Give Me Something'‬‎[/nomedia]

And Hip hop isnt just thumping bass and obnoxious rhymes about guns, women and money. Not even close!

Thanks Clara! So AJshep also likes to ride the riddims :) Brilliant! :D

The TV Channel "Yesterday" are repeating Harold Pinter's "Lipstick on Your Collar."

This was on last night and the cast mimed to it.
