Hello Marylou was one of his best songs and was one of the dozens of hits that Gene Pitney wrote. James Burton, his lead guitarist, played exceptionally well on the original recording :gnthb:. You can see him in this clip.

Bob Luman was a really good rock singer and it was a pity that he didn't do more over here.

Talking of pop guitarists I always admired Scotty Moore who played on the backing for Elvis's early hits.

    Hmm..

It would appear according to the stats, that people in the UK and to an extent in the USA and Austalia, must like this particular jukebox recording of mine as it has had more than 500 hits in just over two months.

Still it is a great song.

On one of the jukebox message boards to which I contribute, a USA member has just posted this photo of his jukeboxes which he has restored.

    They are I think;

    a 1940 Seeburg Envoy, 20 selection 78 rpm.
a 1946 Packard Manhattan Pla Mor, 20 selection 78 rpm
    a 1948 Rock-Ola 1428 Magic Glow, 20 selection 78 rpm

I doubt if you'd find one over here, but in the USA where vintage jukeboxes fetch half the price they do over here, you'd see no change from £5,000 for any of them.

    Edit.

The owner has since posted another message saying all of them have faults at present. He knows what they are and how to fix them, but so far hasn't had the time!

    Obviously a necessary fitting in a new kitchen. A 1946 Wurlitzer 1015, plays 78s.

Actually, it's for sale on eBay USA, currently 11 bids and so far up to $4,839.56 with five days to go.

What type of music do I like? Well, the simple answer to that is anything with a catchy tune!
I will sing anything also, as one can see if you visit my YouTube page, Fonzie5858.

Looking again at the photo of the "Wurly," I guess a teenager could be forgiven for thinking it was just a fancy cupboa"rd for storing dinner plates.

I've just bought a "near mint" copy of this on eBay for my Rock-Ola 443. Cost me 99p. I've three of his albums, sad he died so young, (54).

What do you mean, that's more than it's worth?

The sound separation will sound really good.

At the risk of bangin' on, these old 200watt amplifiers with their two 8" treble and two 12" bass speakers really do the records justice.

This one is a classic example, I bought the album when it was first issued over thirty years ago, but decided recently to get the 45.

If I select this 45 on the jukebox for a visitor I always say; "The bass really sounds good on this."
They listen politely, saying nothing for a bit as it doesn't come in for about ten bars, then when it does, the usual reaction is "Christ!" or some other expletive!
Because you can feel it through your feet even at a modest volume

    Such joy!
